it looks like it was drawn by someone who learned to draw(?) on the Internet. the official Archie Artstyle is formulaic and played out, it's true, but that doesn't excuse lopsided microencephalic mob characters or sexy Jughead:



actually what shocked me the most was a vignette of The Archies in the full-page splash panel where Archie is dreaming, not because things have changed but apparently because they haven't: Veronica plays keyboards. Betty plays tambourine. They always have.

I don't know if this is just a glacial shift in the perception of popular misic culture that's occurred since the '60s, but clearly Ronnie should be out there hamming it up on tambourine, while Betty is relegated to the highly skilled but thankless, unsexy keyboard position that only exists in bands for nerds

Ronnie plays the keys because she comes from an upper crust family with a strict adherence to an idealized aristocratic lifestyle which means she was absolutely made to practice piano from the age of 3 onward, whereas sweet Betty is a veritable hayseed and free spirit so a light percussion instrument reads as carefree and whimsical

marvel's loki is a famous liar but he only really lies to trick people. when he's doing that thing where a marvel villain explains who he is to intimidate people he's generally pretty honest because he doesn't really need to lie. "I am loki. the deceiver, loki liesmith, loki who let the frost giants into asgard, whose betrayal fell the thunder god across multiple lifetimes. loki of the serpent tongue which hides lies in truth in lies and moves worlds on his whim" etc etc

anyway I don't feel like putting it into joke form but it'd be really funny if he lied like a really dumb guy

I love this and want to read a wikipedia article about it. what the hell is it called?

I know it's a real thing, my friend told me there was a viking called "ölvir baby lover" because he refused to throw babies in the air and catch them on his sword, and there was a mafia guy called "good bats" because he was beating a guy with a baseball bat and the boss chuckled and said "I like this guy, he's got good bats" and the other mob guys were like "'eyyyy, good bats!"

the internet keeps telling me it's "kenning" but then wikipedia says that's a thing in norse and old english poetry where they like refer to a boat as "oar-steer" or, presumably, a feather as a bird leaf. my point is it's not the same. I want to know what it's called when Thor does it to his friends. "haha, very well, Volstagg Fullplate!" he might joke, and it feels like a weirdly timeless and mythical tradition probably in part because this is probably where a lot of surnames originally came from. so you'd think it would have a name and a wikipedia page where I could read about it! 

the internet also tells me the Romans had something called Agnomens but if you look that up it's just dry recounting of its legal status in Rome and my brain turns off before I can even get to the three kinds of Roman citizenry names it tells me to compare it to. I bet you fell asleep just reading that sentence. 👎 I'm sorry but the roman empire sucks
and of course there's epithet but that also has too broad of a meaning. and nickname.
I want a word that means specifically this thing and I don't think it exists and I'm mad about it.
