I really like oils. You have such freedom when compared to acrylics. So much more subtlety is achievable, too.

How do you even work with oils, it takes shit like a year to dry. I'm really no good with painting. Yours ain't bad though buddy!

CubeMelonClock

it reminds me of The Beatles

SpinningCubeClock

Pretty good sir. The background is a little iffy, it looks like you've just got the brush and swirled it around, which is actually what you've done lol. The nose looks a bit funny to me, and the eyes don't really follow the contour of the head. It's pretty good though. Keep practising mister!

People always say this, but I've used about 3 brands of oils and they all take about 5 days to dry.

What?

Dunno, just kind of a loose connection. Just one of those things where it's like "Oh I get what you mean" or "no, I have no idea what you are talking about"

then again a lot of things remind me of The Beatles.

anyway, I like it, and my liking of it increases as I look at it

Fair points. To defend myself, the background took a while to get it how I wanted, I didn't just think "better funk it up", the eyes are a bit weird - the (our) left/ (her) right eye is too wide, but that can be fixed, still - and the nose seems alright to me. Do you think the bridge is too narrow?

SpinningCubeClock

Yeah, fix up the left eye, don't make it go to the edge of her face. Also, we shouldnt be able to see both nostrils i don't think.

But yeah, I'm not sure if it's the bridge, but the line on (our) right side of the nose is unnecessary IMO. Other than that, maybe a darker shade under jaw and add some shiney tone to the hair.

This is just stuff I'm seeing if you're trying to make it semi realistic. If it's meant to be all stylised and what not, it's lovely.

Nah, this is all constructive stuff. I think i've got the eye right, now. The 'sculpted' look/ tone of the nose was faithful, but I've made it more subtle now - focusing darkness on the side of the nostril and near her left eye. The face isn't at such an angle that (her) right nostril would be invisible, but it should be slightly more eclipsed than it is.
