The news told me that they were worried it reached Britain because a man was admitted to hospital with "flu-like symptoms".

I'm no doctor, but flu-like symptoms seem pretty common to lots of things, including FLU.

The UK press just want to link the story to Britain somehow so they can print big fuck off bold headlines saying we are all fucked.

The final diagnosis is not made by the symptoms but you can suspect a case because of the high fever, which is not very typical in the common cold.

New York officials previously had said they were eight probable cases, but Centers for Disease Control and Prevention confirmed that it was swine flu, Mayor Michael Bloomberg said.


                 About 100 students at St. Francis Preparatory School complained of flu-like symptoms.


                 Bloomberg stressed that the cases in New York were mild and many are recovering, but also said that parents of the students also had flu symptoms, "suggesting it is spreading person to person".
