"The theory is that shampoo actually destroys the balance of your hair's natural oils. The cycle might go this way: your hair produces natural oils, and after a few days, starts to feels greasy, oily and dirty. So, you wash your hair with detergent, which strips away the grease.

But, as the grease is natural, your hair and head start to fight back by producing more to compensate for the loss, so you wash your hair again. And so on.

But what happens if you don't shampoo your hair? Well, the theory says that your hair will get more oily, greasy and smelly, but after six weeks it will become sweeter smelling, bouncy, the natural balance will have been restored. It will even look more attractive, more sexy and wonderful than every before!"

Munglai didn't write that, I got it from some site. However, I read somewhere on the forums that he had been washing his hair only with water for some time. I decided to read up on it, and since about a week after reading it all, I was convinced and stopped using shampoo. It's been about 2 month and my hair is fucking awesome. It used to be all tangled like fuck and I couldn't do shit with it. It is now lovely and looks better than ever.

I was wondering if anyone here has ever heard of this or if they are currently not using shampoo. If you would like to try it, just google "no shampoo", I'm too tired to look up quotes and statistics and shit and post them here.

hello

Steve

I haven't, but i've never had to worry about my hair, it's naturally soft, straightens easily and... well, to be frank, seems to grow faster than it normally should.

Eitherway, even girls are jealous of my hair.

Fireman

!
maybe I should do this, it might make me feel pretty again.

EtchASketchClock

Still using conditioner or is it straight water?

Sounds like something that would work for me.

This thread is useless without pics. Post your hair as proof fool!

I tried it once but my hair just got so greasy it wasn't funny.

SpinningCubeClock

No conditioner. Just water. The conditioner would add unnecessary oils to your hair. Pics in a minute.

First image: without flash, sort of bad lighting. Been through a day of wearing a hat/riding a horse. Not bad.

Second image: With the flash on the camera, couldn't get it any other way without it being blurry. Looks greasier than it is, because of the flash. Still not bad though. Also I cut my own hair about a week ago. It was getting crazy and there were bits that were too long which just went like FUUUUUUCCCCKKKK all up in the air so I cut them off. My hair is good for that cause it just curls everywhere so I can just hack bits off here and there and you can't tell. If you want more photos I can show, or ask me questions.

After some googling I have decided to do this.
Half because it would piss off my clean-freak friend.
Half because it looks bad ass.

Thanks.

No problem honey. Try to take weekly photos, maybe even daily. With the same angle and lighting so we can see the difference as it progresses from gay chemical homo to awesome and clean.

I actually don't give a shit about the chemicals in the shampoo, and some people do it to 'save the environment' but seriously wake up you're part of the .05% of the population that doesn't use shampoo, just admit you're doing it to be badass.

I got a skin disease, not a disgusting kind just like dendruf but without the mushrooms. So I can't live without my shampoo, or atleast that's what I tell myself before I shout myself to sleep at night...

Well thing is i use styling products that just won't come out with just water.
_pirate_butchcavities (20:29:15): FUCK CLOCKS _pirate_

PaperClipClock

i did that.
at first I was like "man I just can't do it, i can't be greasy 4 a couple weeks it'll ruin my rep. i'll do it when it's summer"
then this winter I was like "welp, don't have friends anyway, time to scare every1"
and I did. pretty greasy but I don't look at myself that much anyway. Now my hair rules. I can actually put my hand in it and run my fingers through. I can style it any way I want. I don't look like a rat's nest that's been laying in the sun for too long and dried out the rats inside so their tails and guts leak out (looked like that 'come winta). Although it's sort of that way now because it's summer and I haven't left my room in like 4 days. But if I take a shower, that day I look fine. Thanks, no shampoo!

I'm probably wrong as I have no idea about your skin thing, but maybe the shampoo and stuff is causing it. If you don't have to go outside for a while, maybe give it a shot and see what happens.

Quote from: Mr. Super Awesome Man;1610392You will smell like a dog.
Only for a few days maybe. Mine actually never went REALLY bad as I washed it thoroughly with water, rubbing my fingertips all over my scalp and using warm water. It never really smelt bad either. Now it's just lovely.

Quote from: PirateClock;1610393Well thing is i use styling products that just won't come out with just water.
It depends how you do your hair. If I remember correctly, you have like, some sort of 90s front fringe gelly up thing going on. This probably won't work for you, but with other hairstyles and stuff, if you stop using shampoo and all the natural oils come back and shit, it's possible to style it with just water, or even when it's completely dry.

Quote from: CadillacClock;1610401I bet you smell. I bet you all smell awful.

Without a good conditioner, a shampoo is worthless.

A good conditioner will strengthen the hair, moisturize the scalp, and keep the hair from knotting or fraying at the ends.
I don't smell.

I think everybody who uses shampoo knows this, if not, they should.

The conditioner claims to strengthen hair and stuff, but your hair is dead, so any damage that has been done to it can't magically get undone by putting chemicals into it. I'm not sure about the fraying thing, but my hair's fine and is never knotted now. Before, when I used shampoo and conditioner properly, if I went to bed even with my hair DAMP, I would wake up and my hair would be ALL OVER THE FUCKING PLACE and all tangled and shit. Since stopping shampoo and conditioner, it's fine every single morning. I also don't spend as long in the shower, and I spend a lot less time seeing as I dont have to 'tame' my hair every single morning. Give it a shot. If you don't, you're probably a homo. Also don't ask hairdressers about it. They'll just get angry and deny it, you're pretty much telling them that everything they are taught is a lie. lol.

It kept taking blurry shots so I was yelling at the camera.

Also I thought it'd be more helpful if I took a photo of my hair rather than my face.
