Big problem!

I have been playing guitar for about 3 years now and i don't want to sound smug but I'd say I'm the dog's bollocks at it... But the only thing is if I try to sing or even talk when I play, I stuff up so bad.

Does anyone have any tips on how I can get over this? Because I want to play guitar and sing in a black/death/folk metal band but I can only do one thing at a time

Can you play without looking down the whole time? That helps.
Also, Learn the guitar parts better, then you don't have to worry about the guitar because you know what to do because you practiced the guitar parts.

Lol, I learned to do this right at the beginning. I'm not that great at guitar, though. I've never actually bothered to learn how to play lead.

Yeah, I don't have to look down. I play along to the songs on iTunes and the play counts are all over 70.

But I screw up when I'm trying to talk and play Iron Maiden which is really easy to do but I can talk when I'm playing StairWay To Heaven (I hate the song but its fun to play)

Oh, you're talking about speaking while playing? That's a lot different from singing. Talking is way harder.
