I find it hard to believe that any group is stupid enough not to notice that they shouldn't really be following god if he hates them and considers them irredeemable, so I'm inclined to believe that these people are trolls.
On the other hand, though, there are some really fucking stupid people in the world.

No dude, they're doing what they do because they're the only ones who will get into Heaven because they're the only ones in the world preaching the true word of God. Least that's what they say.

The most confusing aspect of their beliefs, and the one I really can't wrap my mind around is that, since they believe literally everything has a meaning in God's plan, every time someone dies of something other than age it means God has sent them to Hell. I realized this when a BBC documentarian asked one of Phelps' granddaughters if he'd be happy if a car came along and ran her over and killed her, to which her response was, "Well, I'd be in Hell, so yeah." Apparently if God chooses to kill someone in any way other than in their sleep it means he hates their ass and they're going straight to Hell. Really there's no justifiable sane defense for these people.

yea someone posted the whole bbc special about the guy who tails them for like a whole week, gets to know them. They all live in like a sub community; basically a cult. Its really unsettling to know that they are real people behind what they're doing, and a lot of the younger people basically have their lives ruined because they are forced to grow up under this crazy church. The kids would get harassed at school and stuff, and they were only like 11, it's a drag =/.
