Well, it's not much, but we ended slavery a lot earlier than you, and it didn't take a war. Plus for the most part our last fifty years have pissed off a lot less people than america's last fifty years, which is all people actually care about.

I'm pretty sure it was easier for France and Britain to free their slaves because they didn't have as vast of agricultural resources that used the slaves as the South had.

thats a misinformed eurocentric attitude. those things were only imported to facilitate imperialism, and have done more to widen class disparity, put white oligarchies in power, and hurt the african people over the years than help them. europeans didn't go in on a goodwill mission, they went in to muscle their products into african markets and strip them of resources. seriously read up on the hutu and tutsi conflict and its origins and tell me how helpful europe was

Alright, Captain white-guilt. Would Africa have been better off now if Europeans has left them in the Bronze Age and be allowed to progress at their own pace? Probably. But what's done is done, and they're still benefiting from the same railroads that evil European oppressors laid down two hundred years ago, except now they're bringing food and aid.

I'm not saying we shouldn't acknowledge it. By all means, we should be acknowledging, correcting, and learning never to do it ever again ever.
However, pointless bickering about it does jack shit but get one riled up and defensive about their country, making them less likely to view the negative aspects about their country because they are too busy defending it from people who keep saying "lol u suk bush lol".
