tbh i think that anyone who can ban has a responsibility to invite others to scrutinise their bans and other work so that they can only strive to make their bans fair and the rules understandable to everyone to make this place better.
Right now any new clock is being taught that to be allowed to post here you must note who the mods are and only post things they think are funny and to never question anything they do. That doesn't sound like how the cc should be run. We should be free to develop humour, we should be free to give people a goddamn chance before banning them to hell and we should be free to have civil conversations about our bans, other peoples bans and ban policy as a large group (not just staff) without it instantly being labelled as whiny ban contesting and banned for longer.

You say that ban contesting has been against the rules forever and you're right, but I propose this changes. The rule is only in place to appease the few mods who can't take the responsibility of being able to ban people, and not the help the group as a whole craft a fair ban policy

but this thread is FULL of people who had no idea that cadillac couldn't ban people, and blaming him and biggs (who btw has zero temporary bans in the system right now) for some imagined oppressive banning spree. I'll restate that: cadillac, who couldn't ban people, and biggs, who hasn't banned anybody for nearly 2 weeks, are being blamed for banning too often.
it says to me the vocal complainers are not even paying nearly enough attention to what's actually going on to be making a qualitative (accusatory) judgement call.

point 2 is there's no satisfactory link between the state of the staff and the state of individual activity. it's an unfair cognitive leap, brought up in the first post, from a lack of user activity to bad staff policy. we're a flash group. where is the causal connection? we're not supreme overlords of everything you do. it's fucking boogyman bullshit. why is not being free to make threads like this inhibiting your production?

if something here is causing you to stop producing, you can just not come here. that's what grey did. effectively the only thing we can do as a staff regarding production is either spur it or not spur it.

point 3: there's no populist interest in these complaints. on this side of the fence, besides caddy, dwarf, and biggs, we've got peyote and maybe wii saying we're not being hard enough, nintendo saying we're doing fine, plus fireman, english, and weenie roast, at a cursory glance. that's 9 people not counting myself or anybody who didn't make a strong assertion either way, versus what appears, again, at a cursory glance, to be tequila and prop complaining about things that happened specifically to them, harmony complaining about three people (biggs caddy and clam), who have a collective zero temporary bans in the system supposedly banning people too much, and chalk "one 2-year-old flash movie under his belt" clock complaining about a lack of activity while assiduously NOT involving himself in any capacity, with flash of the month, cca, nanowrimo, or the upcoming flash flood or bill murray week. do the words "vocal minority" mean anything to you?

the only conclusion I can draw is that this is 4 or possibly 5 people taking complete bunk and blowing it out of proportion.
the rapidity with which you, yoyo, slingshotted from ambivalence as to the quality of the moderating staff and general disapproval at the state of site activity to here, where now you're saying there's this huge disconnect between the staff and the userbase and we're lording it over you and ruining it for new members and we all need to come together and make big changes- it's a pretty good metaphor for the root cause of the unrest, and this thread overall: general despondence leading to unrest, and misplaced blame.

if the staff responses in this thread seem needlessly arrogant or aggressive, it's because this shit has been apparent to all of us for the entire thread and we've been alternatively laughing and groaning about how ridiculous it is, while you guys type up these essays that I'm probably the only one who even bothers to read (let far and alone bother explaining the reality of the situation in response.)

Have been talking to different people on chat/pm and there are strangely enough many sides to this coin.

I apologize for any uneccery scrutiny anyone has experienced out of my walls of text, all I ever wanted is a softer, more loving moderator base. That sentiment would be lovely to have carried over to the chat which is a extreme version of whatever lucid point I carry.

This may come in a little too late, but here goes my opinion, in case anyone cares.

Personally I think that, if anything, moderation has become better. Look at the Grinder. The bans that first show up are for the most part legitimate. The moderation team was merely doing its job.

Regarding the Cadillac situation, I think there was a huge misunderstanding here. People kept relating the supposed "Clock Crew crisis omg" to Cadillac, and somewhere along the way he was already guilty for banning people. Oh well.

The rest of the thread was pretty much a discussion based on an untrue fact. Let's face it, people like to bitch and moan. Even when there's no reason to. Human nature, I guess.

Oh and Propaganda I usually like you, but you sure looked bad itt.
