This is the story phase of the first project born from this thread.

To summarize, i've asked everyone to submit a premise for a 1 minute short that we'll adapt into the story of our first project.

I've recieved a good number of submissions and today i'll present them so we can review them.

We want to have a script and/or storyboard that we can turn into motion, so it's not about selecting one premise as best but rather reviewing their potential to make a good script/movie.

Argument in your posts which you like best, how they could be fleshed out, how they could be executed in animation, write a draft, do a character design, anything you want to contribute, you get the idea.

Depending on how long it takes to decide and produce a script we'll eventually move into a storyboard phase (feel free to storyboard right now if you prefer it over writing) combined with an audio phase.

If i forgot your premise please post it in the thread.

Without further ado: the premises

some ideas i liked

QuoteA traveling circus -- as in tent on a large mass of earth with legs -- makes its way around the globe, brining joy to all those around.

I like this idea a lot!

It doesn't really require much of a story, has a fun subject that can be animated in lots of interesting ways and a circus can offer parallels to ourselves as artists.

I think of like this big, goofy tent-creature roaming the countryside, supported by a construction of poles, clowns and elephants, playing demented circus music as it parades the globe.

Quoteman inherits a junkyard from his grandfather who he had never met after a few days he starts finding all sorts of weird space-ship parts and realizes aliens are hiding out in the junkyard.

This would depend on how it's fleshed out to be interesting as a story, but visually aliens and junkyards offer cool possibilities so this is a good idea.

maybe it could be a space junkyard with futuristic machinery and the aliens could've been attracted to the malfunctioning technogarbage sending out distorted signals...or something

QuoteA dutiful butler drags his dying master across the globe in search of a cure.

This is cool. But I say instead of a butler it should be a really cool and loyal dog. A butler can work too but dogs are awesome.

QuoteA boxer's trip to zoo with his 5 year old daughter is put into jeopardy when his rival shows up with a kid of his own.

I'm imagining a Punch-out meets Popeye-like scenario, would be awesome

I'll sketch some of this stuff when i get home and see if i can come up with more ideas

Yeah I've had this idea for about a year now, wondering whether it was worth my time or not. I envisioned something bigger for it, but it fits nicely with this project at any rate.

I always imagined the tent as a large, clumsily moving object. I have a drawing of it somewhere but I won't post anything yet so as not to disinterest anyone or influence their imagination. I'd be honored to see this come to life at the hands of Post-CC, or even just see it test the capabilities of the group.

QuoteA pixie becomes a rain goddess and accidentally floods the state of Arizona.

I think this a cute idea. I see the pixie staying the same size once she's become a goddess. This leads to her being disappointed and angry, and, unaware of her newfound abilities, she floods a large area. Could be a cute and slightly funny short as I see it.

QuoteA dutiful butler drags his dying master across the globe in search of a cure.

This is great. As I see it, a large, stereotypical butler physically carries his master across the globe in search of a cure. Along the way, we learn he's not just doing this because it's his duty but because he actually cares about his master.

QuoteA boxer's trip to zoo with his 5 year old daughter is put into jeopardy when his rival shows up with a kid of his own.
I really like this because it gets me thinking about these two professionals battling it out in "who can be the best dad." Two grown men reverting to childish games and ways of proving superiority. Hilarity ensues.
