Quote from: Armistan Banes;1739886We aren't the ones that have caused the Clock Crew to have taken a turn for the worse, every administration since the original Grapes, F8l, Shasta administration have caused this by allowing people to get away with too much shit.

Staff today is far more lenient than they were back when I first joined. Grapes banned Clam for talking about hockey once, and NO ONE complained back then. So all you bitches should shut the fuck up.

i would probably delete all talk of sports

i mean come the fuck on
BAN EVERYBODY

Looking at Piney's projection I kind of got a sense of "not with a bang but a whimper." I love the crew and I don't want the crew to end like that. Maybe people are deluding themselves if they think the CC can ever be what it once was "back in the old days," I don't know. I wasn't there in the old days. Maybe that makes my argument less valid but I feel like there are still things we can do to save it. Here are a few concrete ideas:

Bring back TIEM and distribute it outside .cc to raise awareness of the crew

Membership drives through distributing fliers appealing to flash artists IRL

I've seen TIEM "brought back" maybe four or five times, each time a failure. Usually it began with a member of the administration deciding he was going to undertake the overseeing of TIEM and then he'd realize how much work it was going to take and then his real life responsibilities would catch up to him and he'd either axe it or just let the dust gather on it until people let go because everyone realized he wasn't going to do shit. This is a very human thing and I don't blame the would-be TIEM founders for letting it happen.

We've had the propaganda membership drive at least once from what I remember. It was a great idea in theory and if I knew the exact date of the propaganda drive I could compare it with Piney's graph to see whether it did draw any new members in. If I had to guess I'd say it was within a year and a half ago. Alas I think the thread is gone with the green door. From what I remember, the biggest problem with the propaganda contest was, like everything else, inspiring the motivation to actually distribute propaganda. So the idea of giving little pixelated awards to clocks/ clockfans who successfully distributed propaganda was proposed. Which really just underlines the issue we've been discussing all along-- if people need such petty motivation to try and save the crew, is it really worth saving?

tl;dr how about we brainstorm up some solutions to do something about the problem

edit: this would be a really good time for everyone to read the Clock Manifesto which covers a lot of topics and is pretty relevant to this discussion.

edit edit: anyway I'm going to attempt to discuss a few ideas with the administration and I suggest you do too, even if you're unsure about your idea!

Come gather 'round people
Wherever you roam
And admit that the waters
Around you have grown
And accept it that soon
You'll be drenched to the bone
If your time to you
Is worth savin'
Then you better start swimmin'
Or you'll sink like a stone
For the times they are a-changin'

Come writers and critics
Who prophesize with your pen
And keep your eyes wide
The chance won't come again
And don't speak too soon
For the wheel's still in spin
And there's no tellin' who
That it's namin'
For the loser now
Will be later to win
For the times they are a-changin'

Come senators, congressmen
Please heed the call
Don't stand in the doorway
Don't block up the hall
For he that gets hurt
Will be he who has stalled
There's a battle outside ragin'
It'll soon shake your windows
And rattle your walls
For the times they are a-changin'

Come mothers and fathers
Throughout the land
And don't criticize
What you can't understand
Your sons and your daughters
Are beyond your command
Your old road is
Rapidly agin'
Please get out of the new one
If you can't lend your hand
For the times they are a-changin'

The line it is drawn
The curse it is cast
The slow one now
Will later be fast
As the present now
Will later be past
The order is
Rapidly fadin'
And the first one now
Will later be last
For the times they are a-changin'

In the beginning the Clockcrew was created. This has made a lot of people very angry and been widely regarded as a bad move.
