I heard Nuts & Bolts actually wasn't all that bad...

Donkey Kong 64 was Banjo-Kazooie in monkey form really. I mean yes, the games were "completely" different, but not really. As mentioned before, Rare died a long time ago.

Donkey Kong 64 was waaaaaaay more of a collect-a-thon, though (Rare's games have always suffered from forcing you to collect a lot of stuff).
Allow me to break it down:

Banjo Kazooie
  • Jigsaw pieces
  • Notes
  • Mumbo Tokens
  • Various unimportant collectibles (eggs, feathers, etc...)

Donkey Kong 64
  • Golden Bananas
  • Yellow Bananas
  • Red Bananas
  • Green Bananas
  • Blue Bananas
  • Purple Bananas
  • Yellow Coins
  • Red Coins
  • Green Coins
  • Blue Coins
  • Purple Coins
  • Yellow Blueprints
  • Red Blueprints
  • Green Blueprints
  • Blue Blueprints
  • Purple Blueprints
  • Fairy Pictures
  • Various unimportant collectibles (oranges, ammo, etc...)
I think I even missed a couple for DK 64.

The point is Banjo Kazooie was actually enjoyable because you didn't spend most of the game replaying the same levels as 5 different characters each time, and then they didn't force you to get a really high score in Donkey Kong and in that jetpack game.

As for Jet Force Gemini, that game bugs the hell out of me (oh, I see, "bug") because it was fun until they made you go through the entire game with every character and try to collect those tiger things, which both A.) Died B.) Reset themselves C.) Were hard as shit to find.  I still never beat Jet Force Gemini because of those fucking things.

I don't care if nuts and bolts was good, because it is not what Banjo Kazooie was supposed to be.

I was obsessed with B&K when I was a kid, the N64 was my first system and it was probably my favorite N64 game.

It's not that bad, it's just no where near as awesome as the original  Banjo games

Golden Bananas = Jiggies
Colored Bananas = Notes (all the colored bananas are the same. the color just dictates which monkey can pick them up)
Coins = Mumbo tokens (see previous comment about colors)
Blueprints = completely optional
fairy pictures = also optional
Oranges = weapons (optional)
Ammo = feathers

You never had to replay the level 5 times, you just had to pick which monkey you used for whatever it was you were doing at the time. As for the Donkey Kong arcade game and Jetpac, i admit that these were hard as a child but they were just a fun challenge.

I actually glitched DK64. I believe I got a banana with Tiny that I was supposed to get with Chunky, so I had a golden banana count of 6/5 with Tiny for the area.

Asshatclock

Donkey Kong and Banjo Kazooie are awesome, I still play them.

:this:

its just a logo. i get how it relates to your childhood (it relates to mine too) but even though they turned to shit now, they still put out some cool games back then.

JUST LOOK AT THE POSITIVES INSTEAD OF NEGATIVES.

on the same not, banjo and dk 64 were both cool, i dont remember playing much of DK64 only because i didnt own it but banjo kazooie was really fun, but i never beat it.
