The guy who made the game Minecraft participated in a 'make a game in 48 hours' event and recorded his computer screen during the process. This youtube video is that 48hours compressed into 6 mins. He does everything from prototyping to menus to level design to sprite drawing. He does a neat trick for designing the levels quickly by using a bitmap file, with each pixel representing a tile and each color representing a different tile. Worth checking out.

The game itself is interesting as well. It's a platformer where you're a guy who shoots little men who shoot at you that you can use to solve puzzles. You can play it here.

Oh yeah. I tend to listen to it more than DI.fm now. Lush is currently my favorite station.

Also, you can see him open a program called sfxr. Basically it allows you to create the 8-bit sound effects for jumping, projectiles, collecting pickups, explosions, and more very quickly. There's even a free iPhone version I play with when I'm bored sometimes, and email myself the ones I really like. When using sfxr you don't have to worry about whether the SFX you've got are royalty-free or not, since they're generated from the parameters you set.

Although if you do need some quality good, cheap licenses for royalty-free SFX, especially for games, I've had good luck with Soundrangers. Just about everything they've got is $2 apiece.

That was actually really cool. Also sfxr is amazing.
