Great, just what we need. The US has only been in Iraq and Afghanistan for what, 10 years or so? Now it looks like another 10 for us in Libya.

Yeah but what's different here is that the UN is the one who wanted to do it and the US kinda had to go along with it instead of vice versa.

But if the UN decides to bomb Libya the US will get dragged into war anyways. All the other countries look to us too send a lending hand when it comes to war, and if we don't help we'll risk losing our alliance. Living proof that you're damned if you do and you're damned if you don't. Whatever happened to our neutrality? We played both sides in WWII until the Germans brought us into war (Which was our fault really).

America sold weapons to both the British and the Germans during WWII and the Germans didn't like this because we were supporting their enemy. The Gremans pretty much said "Hey, stop sending weapons to the British or we'll attack American ships."

Of course we didn't listen. America continued to send weapons to the British via American cruse ships with concealed weapon crates in them. The Germans knew this so they actually sank our ship and killed a lot of unknowing, innocent people. This shattered out neutrality and we had too go to war.

World history: Americans became arms-dealers during World War II in order to escape the Great Depression. The wealth Americans gained during their neutrality vastly aided them in the war and post-war.
