Slightly off topic, but this is the same reason I always thought those people who complain about the cash shop are I'm a edgy teen. It's not DLC because it's not C, and who gives a shit about/would pay for hats. I really don't feel like I'm missing out on anything by not having access to that stuff

Portal only seemed "elegant" because it was made in a short amount of time with a minimum of effort. That's why all the chambers look exactly the same and there was so little variety in level design and it was so goddamn short. I don't see the lack of variety in portal 1 as a positive feature.

not sure how you thought I was equating similar level design with elegance. I was talking about how the story is mostly revealed to you passively. They also tried to make it too cinematic. I liked how the fist one started out all clinical and gradually changed.

also it's annoying how glados calls you fat stupid and ugly before and after every level. rarely are the insults actually funny or interesting. it's mostly her being a flat out annoying bitch

Honestly, that was really easy. I was expecting it to get much, much harder, and give you a final boss worthy of the title, but I didn't either. Fun, it was for sure fun, but damn.

They're most likely going to add more to the game, in terms of puzzles and possibly co op puzzles, so I'm not too bothered about how short and simple it may have been. Left 4 Dead was the same way when it first came out.

They had to dumb it down for console gamers. Listen to the commentary mode if you don't believe me. Hopefully they'll come out with "challenge" modes soon as free DLC (as valve tends to do). That or release a map making kit. The fact that portal 2 didn't ship with either is my biggest disappointment in the game.
