I really want to get into Maya to make a Clockday movie, and because I will hopefully be going to Bournemouth for Computer Animation. I've been using Blender for a while and can do some simple stuff like rigging, texturizering, hair and fur, modelling and been experimenting with shaders and things like that, but I want to use an industry standard now.

What I'm looking for is basically something which gets me used to the interface so I can get started and experiment on my own.

You might want to get on Lynda.com for that stuff, but you might need to use the college's IP adress in first place, so...

Alteratively you could want to try on the Autodesk website, they got plenty of tutorials there. http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/index?siteID=123112&id=9571510&linkID=9242256

There is also this book I used the past semester, it gives you a step by step lead on character and stage modeling plus applying bones for animation. It has some flaws mixing up some details at the beginning but it gets the job done.
