Quote from: Sombra;1860849Why not make a new thread, proposing said topics for discussion in a cohesive way intended to be constructive? If the people so concerned with banning something like hentai want to make shitty threads instead of well-thought out ones promoting debate, why does the moderation need to take the issue they're arguing seriously?

I'm pretty sure that's what he tried to do. Even if he didn't, it's what he was pretending to try to do. The mature thing would have been to have the actual discussion instead of just trying to shut him up.

Quote from: RibsClock;1860857I tagged it as NSFW

That is what I said you did. I said nothing about the spam forum. Tagging a thread as NSFW and filling it with dicks are synonymous.

SchnozzberryClock

I think marking the thread NSFW under the assumption that it's going to get out of hand is a bit rash. I guess we should set some more guidelines regarding it among other things (moving threads to spam forum after a gargantuan derailing)

Still, it doesn't seem like something to get de-modded over.

Perhaps not alone, but he hasn't changed in this many years, why is he going to change now? It may not be enough to pass a vote, but it's certainly enough to prompt me to initiate one.

Quote from: RibsClock;1860866Yes it's true the skin of NSFW tagged threads is dicks, do not misconstrue it as spamming the thread with dicks. The idea is that it is tagged, so that people know what is in there, but not in the spam forum, so spamming it is not acceptable. It allows a discussion of NSFW with relevant images without allowing people to spam up the thread.

I've already explained this and I would prefer it if you would acknowledge that rather than continuing to imply, unsubstantiated, motive to the contrary as though I had not.

I understand that you said this, but I disagree with you that that is justified. The thread was not yours to make demonstrations with, it was Miraclefruit's. That is mod abuse. Tagging the thread as NSFW fills it with dicks and encourages other people to post NSFW material in it, knowing that they freely can. You took his thread, which he was attempting to generate a discussion with, and filled it with dicks and hentai. Nothing I just said there is incorrect. You took the background of the thread, which is normally not dicks, and made it dicks. You also took a thread whose status would normally not allow for NSFW material and imposed such material on it, opening the floodgates. Neither of those things are untrue.

Did you have motivations for doing so? Of course, but that doesn't justify your actions.

Wow this all sounds very familiar.

Quote from: RibsClock;1860866That's pretty ridiculous considering this is the first time I've been in the position of exercising this policy ever, most certainly in these circumstances.

I'm talking about your inability to have a legitimate conversation. You can't communicate so you become dismissive and base your behavior on that. Hell, you admitted to it being a problem at one point.

Quote from: RibsClock;1860857See: my post.
I took my time with my post.  I'm pretty sure I started typing my post up before you posted yours, but I didn't make note of the time I started so I dunno :\

But yeah, I read your post now.  I'm making notes of all the points in this topic. I feel this is something we need to consider seriously.

AlbinoClock

You took a thread complaining about a loose definition of NSFW and made it NSFW. That's not "allowing the topic to be discussed", that's making the thread NSFW. I'd say that taking a thread that's safe for work, and has no reason not to be safe for work, and is in fact made discussing concerns about what can be viewed at work , and making it not safe for work so that people will spam it with hentai to make a point is not something that you'd need to do if you had the ability to communicate your ideas rationally. Instead you have to make some big flamboyant point and then stubbornly bang away at the rightness of it. That is mod abuse.  If I just ran around posting goatse in threads to make a point, I'd probably get banned. He set a tone and you derailed it.

You don't have to have someone in the room getting an abortion to have a meaningful discussion about abortion. Likewise to NSFW threads.

Don't worry nobody thinks you're a jerk besides clam. Slurpee is still loved by all.

"Do you like Hentai y/n" is not intended to be a practical discussion in the first place. If people would rather posts anime pictures to troll Clam and MiracleFruit back, instead of trying to responding rationally to their trolling, is it so surprising the staff allows it?

We restructured the Clock Crew so that we have fair banning practices and elections, and that's fine for almost everyone. However there are some, like Corpse pointed out, whose first instinct on seeing the new rules and guidelines for banning is to stretch them as far as they can go. Or they're like Clam and want to troll the staff. Then when the mods put their foot down, these few anarchists cry out that it's all unfair and that the mods are overstepping their bounds. Even when the ban is justified (I like MFC, but did you even read what a little shit he was being in those PMs?) people will jump to his defense on the basis that mods shouldn't ban anyone, ever, unless it matches a specific rule down to the last minute detail (its not PM abuse unless you send X amount of PMs, etc.). Perhaps this sort of specificity is fine when we're dealing with the American justice system, but this is an internet forum. Hell, some people want the Clock Crew Charter to be interpreted more rigidly than the American Constitution.

And honestly Albino, I can't tell if you're trolling or actually serious about all this. However the latter wouldn't surprise me.

Sombra

I think it's because the internet is just inherently more anonymous than real life, which makes people more outspoken and arbitrary, also we are far closer to our staff than the public is to its government. We have the opportunity to argue over rules with our leaders while Americans can only really speak through votes or demonstration, letters to their senator etc. Apparently we can also impeach staff members whenever we wish.

AlbinoClock

Brick wall blah blah blah. Whatever, Corpse. You're infallible. Don't worry you won't hear another word from me. I've wasted enough time.

Voting no, because you guys just voted him in, what like a month ago? If he's such a bad mod then he'll get what's coming next election.

I've read your posts in the grid from when you and clam used to argue and you never went too long, you said what you needed to say in an adequate number of words. I think he only says this so he can discredit your arguments without actually proving you wrong.

AnkhClock

Have we made replying with TL;DR or the equivalent a bannable offense? Because I'd be up for that.

It is in the debate forum I think. Maybe we should implement it in here.

HeinekenClock

By making the clock crew a democracy, you've created a system where there's two parties: the self proclaimed diehards and then there's the rest. The minority here is the most obnoxious, loudest group of people here. Dear god, you've made republicans. And this forum is their Fox News.
