Everything you'll ever need to know. And I mean everything is at

http://www.halfwit-2.com/?page=tutorials&category=1

These are made for HL2. But also can be used for CS:S. Well except for man hacks and antilions and etc. so basically go to #12 and then just browse thru.

EDIT: Also, if you want to  make maps in other games such as CS:S, HL2, HL2: DM, DoD:S, and HL2: Episode 1, rather than Portal, TF2, and HL2: Episode 2 then you have to:

Go into Steam and click the tools tab.

Right click Source SDK and click Properties

Click Set Launch Options...

Then type in "-engine ep1" (no quotes)

This will just change the version of the sdk so you can make maps for CS:S and such, basically games not in the orange box. If you want to make maps for the orange box again just delete that string and reboot Source SDK.

No it doesn't. Doors have their own "stay open" option, from where you can enter a time in seconds for the door to stay open. If you're pissing around with logic_timers to make timed doors, I feel sorry for you.

Oops, forgot about that, I just haven't used hammer in a while because I've lost all motivation to do so.

Well they can definately be used for Gmod. But I don't know what configuration you need to make gmod maps. Probably HL2. But idk.

RomanClock

BTW, this is mainly for TF2 so it might be a bit different.
