So about 13 months ago we bought this flamant new HP Media Center m7550la

And its funny how it got:

1GB DDR2
Total 410GB of Hard Drive Capacity including the 160 from the extractable
nVidia
Pentium D

and it is already coughing up all kind of erroneous shit. With XP, not Vista.

Shit like blue screens, overloaded fan, dead pixeled monitor (we exchanged it twice), the wireless port for the keyboard and mouse has been failing, and of course, sudden freeze overs that take hours to fix with task manager.

I have been wondering what kind o basic treatment I should give it so my family doesn't have to spend lots in a know-it-all to repair simple stuff like adding a bloddy antivirus and formatting?

HP stands for Huge Piece of shit.


I'm having a long-time trouble with their scanner's software suite, always prompting me for "Unload," whatever that means.

i've had relativly little trouble with my version of HP.

Save my indexing error, but I'm not sure if that's actually to do with the hardware or vista being a fgt

one of my harddrives keeps giving me error messages and causes my pc to freese and go trough a fucking half hour system check before i can restart.

also on my old hp my motherboard broke twice.

my new pc is a dell.

Conclusion: HP should only make printers. If they haven't got better products.

EDIT: Oh and my old PC is an LG and it still runs freaking nice.

Put Ubuntu on it. Also, make sure it's well ventilated.

Only if you're I'm a edgy teen, but yeah, HP sucks. Build your own next time, or get a Dell or something if you're willfully ignorant.

Before buying, you should always check some reviews out. Those really help in picking a good PC.
