The "evil carnival" thing has been worn down to a nub.

That is just "Carnevil". I've beat that shit like 10 times. Not really scary at all.

The other two levels were almost lolworthy. Sadly, I've never seen that game in arcades. Although Umlaut (the evil clown) probably would've scared me as a little kid. On that note, I like how the final bosses of these kind of games aren't usually scary/unnerving at all, especially compared to the rest of the game. But they are a pain to kill. Tokkentakker (CarnEvil) and Emperor (House of the Dead 2) come across as powerful characters, but are by no means ugly. Unless you count how many quarters it takes to beat them. Ugly on your tokens.

Even when Emperor summons liquefied bosses, they just look plain goofy. Especially the big chainsaw guy.

Yeah, I was never freaked out at this game. It was really fun, though, when I used to play it. I wish there was one around here.

The closest arcade to our house that has a real good set of games is about a half an hour away. Even then, they actually have a sign that shows the AAMA ratings that claims, on top of high violence and any sexual content, FUNSET BOULEVARD DOES NOT CARRY THESE GAMES.
