at the moment I'm trying to see if I can not cut my hair for a year and simultaneously I'm trying to stabilise my hair by not using shampoo for a month so it's pretty hard to take a picture of myself now where I don't look like a tramp but here's a picture of me from a couple of months ago looking like a musketeer cross-dresser

I just cut my hair after having it long for a good few years. Feels great when you finally do it.

Babies and animals have natural oils in their hair that stop it getting super dirty and if they bathe in plain water or even leave it for a little while it will become clean on its own accord. However! a while ago people invented shampoo and told everyone that it was awesome and everyone believed them because they were uneducated peasants/trendy poshos and they all started using it but little did they know that shampoo actually strips all these oils from your hair and makes it retain dirt. Your hair gets confused and produces more oils than it needs which is why hair gets greasy.

If you avoid using shampoo for a month or so and just wash it with plain water your hair starts to produce the right amount of oil and stuff to keep it clean and then you never have to use shampoo again and your hair stays clean for longer and is generally healthier.

However you have to put up with it being a bit gross for a while. Mine isn't doing too bad but it doesn't photograph well at the moment.
