Oh good, Windows 7 is trash too.

Quote from: SlashdotTechForensics writes "A few days' testing of Windows 7 has already disclosed some draconian DRM, some of it unrelated to media files. A legitimate copy of Photoshop CS4 stopped functioning after we clobbered a nagging registration screen by replacing a DLL with a hacked version. With regard to media files, the days of capturing an audio program on your PC seem to be over (if the program originated on that PC). The inputs of your sound card are severely degraded in software if the card is also playing an audio program (tested here with Grooveshark). This may be the tip of the iceberg. Being in bed with the RIAA is bad enough, but locking your own files away from you is a tactic so outrageous it may kill the OS for many persons. Many users will not want to experiment with a second sound card or computer just to record from online sources, or boot up under a Linux that supports ntfs-3g just to control their files.

And here I was hoping that Microsoft had turned things around.

I really don't know what its talking about. I have some PATCHED DLL FILE PROGRAMS ON MY SIMS AND PHOTOSHOP AND FLASH and they work fine, and talking on skype while playing music doesn't reduce sound quality, people comment how my sound is crystal clear. Also Albino I'm sure you know by now but Slashdot has a bit of bias in favor of the penguin.

And so they should. The penguin is our savior.

Also, they're talking about recording whatever audio is playing, like ripping songs from YouTube.

Linux still can't handle audio properly on my computer. And as for recording playing audio, works fine!

Fuck that I'm going with Windows 1.0. It has REVERSI.

I thought DRM was on its way out?. Either way I still have high hopes for 7. And as for the cracks stuff, you know people find a way around everything...

SoBe Clock

Uhh guys, it isn't finished yet.

At least wait until the OS is actually finished and released before attacking it. We have no idea if those problems will even be in the final product.

screwdriver_clock

I might need to remind anyone in here coming for legitmate accusations on Windows 7's flaws to turn around. Slashdot has a habit of being the kind of people to go "W1nbl0w$" and then circlejerk to Linux.

Don't get me wrong, a good circlejerk to Linux isn't bad, but Windows 7 is a sweet operating system, and Vista is almost as good now.

Every guy wants to be his  friend and every girl wants to date him. Understandably Slurpee is not a  very happy person.

I've been striving to be more diplomatic.

Besides, it's really only whiteknighting if you're really eager to its defense, like, 10 minutes after the thread was made. :p

To all the current whiners (especially the ones who cant be arsed to even try the OS) yes there are problems, which is why its still a beta. However after testing my system on the problems Albino listed, I didn't have them, so either that article is outdated, inaccurate or due to their system. I guess I'm out of touch with the term "white knighting" if it means that I'm just stating I don't have the problem they're talking about.

i will stay with xp until the bitter end

yes, when your hardware and software no longer supports Xp, and you're left in computing dust. This is highly reminescent to the 32 bit jump. Everyone wanted to stick with 16 bit for the cost.. it was SO INEFFICIENT OMGGG. They say history repeats itself.

yeah i agree with screwdriver, why bash something thats not even done? i too have high hopes for windows 7 and i will probably install it on my new pc (if i ever get it)

Well, by that token, why extoll it? I think people also spoke highly of the Vista beta.

Let's just hope it doesn't lose focus.

i wasn't really extolling it, i was just saying i have high hopes. i've heard other good things about it so we'll just have to wait for its release.
