What if you were banned from a country?

What if one day you wake up, and suddenly you're no longer allowed to travel to some country like UK?
Kinda like some of these people. Given many of these people probably aren't people you would want to associate with, but I would consider banning anyone from your country a radical move in any case.
How would you deal with that, and what kind of action would you take?
lemayo lol :soups:

Marlin Clock

Be glad I'm in a really free one to begin with?

WreckingBallClock

Unless I'm banned from the country I'm in, I'm not truly affected, except that I lose a vacation spot(s).

AnkhClock

If I was famous enough, I'd make fun of Mao Zedong, piss off China, and get banned. And I'm more or less already banned from Iran, North Korea, and other countries that hate America.
Granted, It's unlikly I'd get banned from any free country because I'm not a terrorist or political extremist like the dudes on that list.

Loki Clock

Gonna swim across the Atlantic cause that's the only place I can go.

I can understand terrorist since they actively pursue criminal activity that often results in major loss of property or life, but political extremism? Isn't a political view an opinion? Isn't that against the first amendment? Given, Britain doesn't have a first amendment, doesn't that go against their ideas of "tolerance and diversity"? Or are they only tolerant of those with the same opinions as them? I would say any free country to do something like this should be ashamed of themselves for doing the reverse of what they are supposed to represent.

what a fucking stupid question, i wouldn't go to that country

Look I told the police already, I was holding the bomb for my friend and decided the safest place was in my shoe. You know how many things get stolen at airports!

BinaryClock

It is their right to not let people into their country if they don't want to. As long as the people who were put on this ban list were not originally UK citizens, they don't need to let them in.

Absolute freedom of speech is awesome and all but it has it's flaws.

Indeed, I would agree on that. But when you're a country touting yourself as enlightened, progressive, and free and then turn around and smack all that in the face, you're just making yourself look stupid. Especially if you are basing part of you reason on political views. The Phelps we all know and would agree are pretty crazy, yet I don't beleive they actually attacked anyone or even told people too attack someone, they were just being total jerks to people, kinda like a lot of people on the CC. Suddenly they are banned from a supposed free country. And Micheal Savage (whose son actually invented the Rockstar Energy Drink interestingly) whom many may consider a radical, also never supported violence in any form, yet was banned only based on his political views (there are actually quite a number of articles on this). And if they are basing their reasons on political views, who decides what a valid or extremist opinion is? Who will they ban next? Will they require a political test before allowing you into their country?

Heh. Hehehehe. Ha. HA. HAHAHA. HAHAHAHAHAHA! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAA! Haa...

You're right it does make you look stupid as a country.

Also they get to decide what a valid or extremist opinion is. Because it is their country. If it is simply limited to banning non-citizens from their country, I have no qualms. Call me when they actually start oppressing them.

Are Americans allowed to go to Cuba for holidays?

Steve

If it's America i wouldn't care, i'd rather not go there by free will anyway.

BinaryClock

Well this turned into a "Well my country than better your country" contest fast.

And why the hell wouldn't this go into political squabbles?

At least in the squabble forum there's the threat that a mod will chill you because he thinks you said something really fucking stupid.

More so than usual I mean.

Here in America, we have many different kinds of freedoms. Certain freedoms I had no idea about! I walk into store for first time and I see this box. It says "Maxi Pads: New Freedom". What a country! Freedom in a box! I bought 15.
