Have you ever heard a song that is completely sugary, stupid, overproduced, or otherwise warranting your complete hatred, but that for some reason you can't help enjoying? I find that this tends to happen to me a lot with 90s pop.

For example, in the last couple of weeks, I had Steal My Sunshine by Len and Two Princes by the Spin Doctors stuck in my head at the same time. I looked them up on Youtube, and actually ended up enjoying them. In all fairness, I guess they're pretty fun songs and I could probably party to them.

Has this happened to any of you, Clock Crew?

No. I never feel that I 'should' hate something. I feel sorry for the Pitchfork reading twats who wait for approval from a higher power to like or hate something.

This isn't directed at you. Probably.

It doesn't have to be an external source that makes you feel that you shouldn't. The definition of a guilty pleasure is one you like in spite of you, personally, thinking you shouldn't.

Nah, I'm talking about music that, based on the rest of your taste in music, you'd think that you'd absolutely loathe, but that you actually enjoy. Nothing at all to do with what anyone else thinks. Another example for me, personally, is the entire collective works of the band Metric. I'll be the first to admit that they are a very, very hipster-ish band. I mean, I already have a problem with any band that wants to call themselves "indie". For me, it implies a whole shitload of pretentiousness that could be overcome with the simple application of the term "alternative". On top of that, they have a very clean, produced sound compared to the grunge that I typically listen to. They also have a style that involves pretty much taking popular styles and just giving them a slight twist. But I can't find it in my heart to hate them. Maybe it's because I associate them with the brief period of time, when I was fifteen, during which I was blissfully unaware of my own budding pretentiousness. I hadn't even heard of the term "hipster" then. I think that time was the happiest I'd ever been. But then I realized just how shitty the direction was that I was going in.

Anyway, I think a big factor for me is nostalgia. Which kind of makes me cringe, because it makes me no better than the assholes you see listening to the radio in their cars and talking about how great they think the eighties were.
