The Arcade industry has been hard at work shooting itself in the foot with outrageous prices lately, so I don't see that as likely. A street fighter 4 cabinet costs over $20,000. No joke.

How would this work exactly? I can see some generic kicks and briefcase swinging, and maybe a down forward punch OBJECTION that works as an anti air, but what else? What would his assists be(apart from the aforementioned OBJECTION)? What about his supers? His character doesn't seem to lend itself very well to combat.

There's a reason he's not in Tatsunoko vs. Capcom, and that reason is that he only has one move.

I always figured phoenix would be something between jill valentine's armory of assist characters, and sonson and servbot's nonsensical shit that's not from any game and probably wouldn't be any kind of attack even if it was (one of servbot's attacks is running with a stack of plates and then tripping)

I'm sure they could find a way to shoehorn Phoenix in, but I just don't think it'll be a natural fit... but we'll see. They might surprise us.

On the topic of this game being real:
We know for a fact that Marvel and Capcom have been having licensing related talks lately because they BOTH had to agree to allow MvC2 to be ported to XBLA and PSN last year. This game is seriously looking like it's going to happen.

There's a bunch of stuff in game he can use. You could always have him using murder weapons if that isn't to morose and he has the psyche lock. Also there are support characters, the game is very character driven. I'm imagining a giant judge's gavel.

I am going to be extremely disappointed if this game doesn't have at least 40 characters, and I'll probably kill somebody if it doesn't have all the characters from MvC 1

I learned about this recently and am really stoked for it. I love MvC2 and I wish I had a ps3 just to own that game. TBH If they upgrade to 3D and don't keep the face pace speed that all the others had, I would be really really really disappointed. Also they had better keep Dan, I saw they did in SF4 so IF THEY KNOW WHATS GOOD FOR THEM...

not to mention that playing the actual arcade game costs like a euro instead of 25cent.

EDIT: well Frank west made an appearance in the previous VScapcom game, and they just gave him a bit of everything, so yeah why not Phoenix ?

On the Marvel side of things... we can be pretty sure Deadpool is going to be featured because Marvel has been marketing him hard lately. I hope we get some Thor action this time around. If Thor is in MvC3 I'll jizz in my pants.

Frank is from a combat oriented game where he uses a variety of weapons and attacks. It's easy to build a character form that. Phoenix is from an interactive novel and never fights anybody. Once again, there's a reason he wasn't in TvC, and it wasn't lack of popularity.

I'd imagine it'd play similarly too TvC. So it'll get a decent 3d look but the fast paced action will be retained.

They were considering him I guess. I even saw some japanese promotional material for TvC with the two they dropped, including Phoenix.

Phoenix could have a couple of OBJECTION moves, a HOLD IT that makes people freeze, he could TAKE THAT and fling evidence at people, he could make a desk appear and slam his hands on it (possibly with the opponent's head in between desk and hand), he could slap papers like he does sometimes but do it towards people so he kind of slaps them with the papers, he could do a psych-lock for a special where they get all wrapped up in chains and stuff, he could send in Maya/Mia/Gumshoe/Edgeworth to do stuff, he could bla bla bladdfmd I don't know man there's quite a lot of potential. And Marvel vs Capcom has some pretty nonsensical characters to be honest.

Nonsensical as they may be, they're all fighters/heroes.
