Quote from: xBitchxx;1756357Kingdra's a great Pokemon. High, well rounded stats and only one weakness. Teach it Rain Dance if it has Swift Swim. It'll be worth it, not just for the Speed increase but for the boost of Water-type moves. It wouldn't be a bad idea even if it didn't have Swift Swim. You can get one with Sniper if you want, that's a decent ability. Teach it Surf and Dragon Pulse if its Special Attack is higher than its Attack (the base stats are the same) or Waterfall or Dive and Outrage if its Attack is higher than its Special Attack, and you'll have a pretty fucking good Pokemon.

I don't see why you say that its stats suck, or why Dragonite's attack power is lacking. If I had to take a wild guess I'd say that you're holding them to the standard of a Pokemon with a very high Base-stat total and especially high Attack and/or Special Attack, e.g. almost every single legendary with a base stat total of 670 or more, but that would be ridiculous.

Anyway, yes, I'll try to get you that Gible, if someone else doesn't first.

Dragonite's attack power isn't as much as it is lacking as much as it is dull compared to the other two dragon's I'm aiming for. Kingdra's stats are pretty well rounded, but really doesn't exceed in any other stat. I'm not trying to hold it to a legendary pokemon's stat pool, but on the OU tier, there's just better choices.

AnkhClock

I've said it before and I'll say it again - using pokemon based on their stats is laaaaaaame. Real men use whatever Pokemon they think looks the coolest.

Yes that includes Bellossom.

That said I'd like to get a Gible because Garchomp looks pretty badass (also I can name it GARLOCK). I've always thought Salamence and its evolutions were the lamest looking pseudo-legendaries.

Also I'm gonna evolve my Seadra as soon as I can be arsed to get on GTS.

Kombucha

Using Pokemon SOLELY based on stats is lame. I don't use Pokemon I think are ugly, but I'm not going to use Pokemon whose stats would make them too difficult to use, such as Smeargle.

The way I use Pokemon is situational, though. I train what Pokemon I need when I need them.

Bellossom's stats aren't that bad btw.

Marlin Clock

Really I've never trained dragons because they just seem like too much of a bother honestly. The only guy I train that's a bit of a challenge to level up is Pineco because Foretress is a beast.

KeyClock

Unconfirmed rumor: Zekrom is Dragon/Electric

"The host of Pokemon Sunday, Nakagawa Shoko, blogged today about the character she is voicing in the thirteenth movie. With this, she mentioned about her love for Electric types and stated that due to this, she wants to get Zekrom."

Source: Serebii

Kombucha

A Dragon/Electric Pokemon would be pretty cool.

Doesn't stop Zekrom from being ugly, unfortunately.

Yeah, they can be pretty hard to train, mostly because they're a rare type that's filled with legendaries and pseudo-legendaries and the pre-evolved forms of pseudo-legendaries. Legendaries are almost always in the slow experience group (all Dragon-type legendaries are in the slow experience group) and the lines of pseudo-legendaries are always in the slow experience group, and take a long ass time to get to their final form. Dragonair evolves into Dragonite at level 55.

Kombucha

Hey Polyhedron

Also, Asshat, I have a Spheal if you still want one.

TequilaClock

So guys, I want to make a gimmick party representing native or folkloric american stuff. As in, the whole continent.

So far I have thought of Ursaring, Xatu, Ludicolo, Seviper... what else can you think?

Marlin Clock

Zapdos is based off the Thunderbird.
Hitmonchan is a stereotypical American Boxer.

Kombucha

Quote from: Tony Esposito;1758389Hitmonchan is a stereotypical American Boxer.
Hitmonchan is based on modern professional boxing in general, which started in Britain in 1891 and has since spread across the entire world.

His name is based on Jackie Chan, a Chinese martial artist/movie star, to emphasize the fact that he's the counterpart of Hitmonlee, who is named after Bruce Lee. His Japanese name comes from a famous Japanese boxer.

There's nothing that's specifically American about Hitmonchan.

Marlin Clock

Fine. Nospass is based off Easter Island, if that counts.

TequilaClock

I always forget about the location of Easter Island, but I could add it.

Btw just got Bronzong, and even if he is based from japanese folklore, the design reminds me of churrigueresque architecture.

Quote from: Tony Esposito;1758389Zapdos is based off the Thunderbird.

Is this what you are talking about? Because I never had heard of it. I thought you were talking about a plane or something.

Also, I am basing in tribal, ancient and cultural stuff. Nothing modern like boxing, even though I do have a Hitmonchan already ;)

Kombucha

Quote from: TequilaClock;1758408I always forget about the location of Easter Island, but I could add it.
Off the coast of Chile. If you're willing to include South American stuff, a moai based Pokemon could work.

Edit: In the games, Mew is said to have been first discovered in Guyana, so that's another South American one, but I doubt you have a Mew.

It also looks like the LIBERTY BELL (sort of).

:salute:
Quote from: TequilaClock;1758408Is this what you are talking about?
No, this.

Zapdos is actually the best Pokemon for that theme besides Xatu.

TequilaClock

That could work i guess. And Zapdos is supposed to be able of being caught in SoulSilver. Or so I heard.

Also, I just remembered I have Ludicolo which is perfect for :sombrero:

EDIT: Well holy shit, it seems I can catch the three legendary birds! That's really cool

Kombucha

A Native American theme is actually really flexible. There have likely been thousands, I can't claim to know exactly how many, of different groups of indigenous people in the Americas, and many of them used lots of different animals as symbols.

It's almost entirely up to your imagination.

TequilaClock

regardless I am catching this motherfucking Zapdos whatever I do, this bitch is hard

I call dibs on Mohawk Horse.

Also, interesting to see that it looks like there's gonna be a female professor.

KeyClock

I like the gear based pokemon, the horse and the alligator. The pink thing might grow on me, the fire thing might grow on me and I hate the cutesy little mouse-squirrel thing. Also, I like the bird. The female professor is a nice idea but I don't like her hair, too mavericky.

Also the new region looks pretty cool, being split up the way it is. Also I like drawbridges.

Also the pokedex totally reminds me of a calculator

All in all looks like a good(?) new game, maybe not the series overhaul I've been hoping for but w/e

MSPaintClock

these pokemon look I'm a edgy teen!!!
