I know that I should do that but then I get in the game and there's a million things going on at once and I'm trying to make sure my target doesn't get too far away and that I can heal everyone around me and check to make sure there aren't any pyros coming up behind me and shouting if there are and oh whoops while I was doing that my heal target rocket jumped away.

It didn't help that my game stutters half the time I use my mic.

Also for the fucking record before I go to sleep: 04:48 in the morning and halfnaked emogirl who wants to cam with me, but I godamn man-upt to play a losing battle with my fellow Clocks.

Kinda. We had a lot of momentum going and we were actually doing pretty well but once it got to 9v8 and then 9v7 when propy dropped it made it hard to stop their advance so they shellacked us pretty quick.

I've been home the whole time. Was I playing Space Marine because if so that was my friend Steve who I let on my computer to play with my roommates.

Learning how to be good as pyro is learning how to use airblast. That's the only depth in the class. Axtingisher is a gimmick that isn't nearly as important.

Spychecking is important too but that's entry level shit.

Airblast all the rockets, everyone that's on fire and your foes off ledges and into corners. Use the degrease, axetinguisher and reserve shooter/flare gun for maximum airblast killing. Enemies move in straight lines when airblasted and if they're on fire the flaregun minicrits. You can also be a defensive pyro. I usually use the backburner for it, and the homewrecker/maul are a must. Note that they are a 1-hit-kill on mini-sentries and remove sappers. The Phlog should be used with the sharpened volcano fragment and detonater/flare gun. Focus on building mmph as quickly as possible, then hide just out of sight when you activate. Try to do so behind enemy lines, otherwise they'll just run to their friends.

airblasing heavies straight into the air (especially while ubered) is a really good tactic because it's REALLY disorienting and hard to aim in that situation. That's pretty much the only way a pyro can beat a heavy that isn't a complete retard 1v1.

Don't use the Phlog in competitive play, it's completely worthless. It's ONLY for pubstomping.

Gearbox, I have to disagree with you on the minisentry thing. It's faster to just circlestrife around a sentry and burn it than to switch weapons and hit it once and then switch back. Pyro can walk around a mini sentry faster than it can turn, and it takes overall less time to use the flamethrower. Flamethrower can also hit the sentry from range.

EDIT: After rereading your post, I don't think you should be giving advice on how to play competitive pyro if you're seriously going to suggest backburner, phlog, and volcano fragment.

EDIT2: I should make a thread about TF2 weapon choice. This thread should die now anyway since the event is over.
