Nintendo games are fun, colorful, jovial things that are reliably high in quality. I'm willing to accept a degree of sameishness if the formula is kept varied enough to keep it interesting. Comparing Nintendo to The Simpsons, they're just hitting season 10. Not really revolutionary anymore, but still putting out consistently good stuff. And I'm alright with that.


plus; internet connectivity isn't subscription based, lowest costing console of the generation, and no bullshit DRM. Lesser of 3 evils, I'd say.

Nintendo definitely had the best presentation of the big three at E3 this year. That said, I'm probably going to buy a PS4 and Wii U both some time in the future.

Brawl was such a disappointment I don't even care about the new smash bros.

Not even Mega Man and wii fit trainer really make me want to buy it.

The 3DS is the only real thing Nintendo has going for it. I was hoping for some kind of incredible surprise to make me want to buy a WiiU like a new METROID or FZERO or StarFox.

As of right now, the only REAL compelling game is Pikmin. Windwaker HD looks neat but its still a rehash and everything else promising is gonna be on the 3DS so.... wheres the incentive?

The fact that Retro is working on ANOTHER DKC is also disappointing. I'm sure it'll be great, but they're capable of more. The studio that brought us the classic Metroid Prime shouldn't be working on a 2D DKC.

Nintendo would sell me on the new Smash Bros if they put in the Viridian City stage from the original.

Wind Waker doesnt look nice it's just the original game upscaled and with a bloom filter set to max. I feel like its gonna burn my eyes out while playing it.

I've played every brawl since the start and I think the second was the best. Last one had lost it's initial appeal and was more of the same old.

New one lost me with the new Villegar bullshit because that's just a crap character from a casual game.

I'm sorry if I offend anyone but most of nintendo's games arn't really "games" to me. They're just same old concepts that I could pay less than 8 dollars for on Steam to get a cooler, more innovative version off.

Buying a console to play the last two decades games with new graphics seems like lunacy as well as idiocy to me. As well as supporting Nintendo's lazy posture towards their market and their fans.

I mean yeah PS4 is being dicks with paying for online but to be truthful you at least get some games from it at times and with the market pressing for huge amounts of DMR etc. I say it's a fair compromise. Ontop of that their ACTUAL FUCKING GAMES are pushing bounderies on concepts, mmo, rpg etc. whereas nintendo does nothing of the sort.

And microsoft... I mean blah.



I'm not saying PS4 is perfect or that they managed a 10/10, far from it, but I just see the other two as blatant failures from a "gamer" perspective. Nintendo/Wii/u just isn't a console anymore, it's a home entertainment system. It's not made for gaming or gamers in mind.

Okay well I couldn't disagree with this post more but I'll humor it. I'd like to address this part specifically. To claim that Nintendo games aren't games just because you don't like them is stupid and lends your point no weight. Anyone who knows me knows I'm an avid PC gamer, but PC simply does not have equivalent games to a lot of Nintendo's offerings, let alone 8 dollar versions that are more innovative.

The closest thing the PC has to Zelda is Darksiders. While Darksiders is definitely good, it's not more innovative by any means, and "cooler" is debatable.

PC has a lot of platformers and action platformers through the indie games scene, so you could probably find games similar to Donkey Kong Country, Super Mario Bros and 2D Metroid games pretty easily, but PC really has nothing like Mario Galaxy at all, nor anything like Metroid prime unless you use a scattershot approach like saying "gravity based platformer" and "atmospheric FPS."

Closest thing PC has to Smash Brothers? Not really anything. I would not call Street Figher, nor the upcoming releases of Skullgirls or Mortal Kombat similar.

Closest thing PC has to Mario Kart? Sonic and Sega All Stars Racing.... wooo.

Pikmin? Overlord but that series sucks.

Pokemon, Animal Crossing, Luigi's mansion? Nope.

It wouldnt be hard to find PC equivalents to Fire Emblem.

PC has a lot of innovation on it and an incredible library of games. But of all the things the PC has, there's no library of games quite like Nintendo's.
