also also system shock 2 is good so far, I prefer the first game's aesthetic but I like the gameplay additions here. actually having other people alive to talk to is interesting as well. why did I wait so damn long to play this lol. speaking of shock I just read the original pitch document for bioshock. why the hell didn't they go with that? horrific fish/crab/jellyfish mutants feel more "bio"shock than what we ultimately got, which was just dudes with bad skin. the bee thing was as close as it gets. you're still modifying yourself in the final game but if they're gonna call it BIOshock it should be some undersea cronenberg shit like the pitch document described, not just force lighting. but still keep the splicer powers I like those I just wanna do it with hideous pus ridden crab claws not worthless human fingers.

I haven't played automata and I loved nier but nier's gameplay was super unpolished jahu. cavia was a lovable scrappy weirdo of a developer but they weren't very good at making games feel good on just a moment to moment basis, definitely not anywhere near platinum's level. I tried playing drakenjosh but it was even worse in the gameplay department and the localization was kind of whitewashed. I ended up just reading an lp and I'm glad
