you know what else had a weird ending where they imply the kid is gonna be the new killer? halloween 4, and they just completely ignore it in the next one

PhantomCatClock

#boycottTimHortons is trending on Twitter

do you still stand by your reviews you

you BOOMER

Without even looking it's probably because they completely changed Roll Up The Rim

I talked at length in my chilli video about how the new owners are running Timmies into the ground, I have no opinions that could be swayed by this.

Apparently it's because they are asking for doctor's notes before approving paid sick time for Coronavirus.

The bastards.

beating games from childhood update:
had vague memories of an edutainment game where you play as alien kids whose school bus/spaceship crash-lands in a theme park, where they, learn. you had to find all the bus parts to repair the ship so they could leave, but in the meantime also have fun solving educational puzzles
remembered getting all but one of the bus parts as a kid and never being able to get the last one. suspected it was not actually possible because the game was made for kids and who would even notice?
wasn't sure if it was a mac os9 game or a windows 95
after much searching, finally combed through the entire edutainment tag on macintoshgarden one night until I found it: "bumptz science carnival" WONDER WHY I HAD TROUBLE REMEMBERING THAT

nobody cares about mac emulation so everything out there hasn't been updated in years and all the open source shit requires an installation disc which I probably have around here somewhere but whatever fuck that. finally found a possibly illegal package that had os 9 pre-installed because it was a professor at a university tinkering with it to make it more smoothly interface with windows' file system, which, I got to tell you, is just aces, I had no idea that was even going to be a problem before I found out he fixed it
then it took a while figuring out how to get sheepshaver to play sound and read .iso files

all in all this took at least a couple workdays worth of effort, off and on, including just trying to find the name of the dang game

trip report: I have no idea why I couldn't find the 5th bus part as a kid, it took like 20 minutes. I must have been REALLY young when I played this. I remember the pieces mostly periodically showing up in the monster's cave, but there was only one there, then one was in the photobooth props, one was behind a building, and the other two were all inside science puzzles and you got them by solving the science puzzles.
it even lets you create and save your own puzzles to challenge your friends and siblings! it's cute. I hope kids still have cute stuff like this
also I'm pretty sure this game taught me more about how light works than any science class before college. the paradox of edutainment is usually that it's only entertaining when it's not educational, but physics might be the exception. kids like figuring stuff out.

cursory research indicates that this game was made by the creators of "millie's math house"

I was like "pfff, millie's math house" then I googled millie's math house and realized that millie's math house already existed in my memory like some sort of forgotten mkultra programming, and now I'm kind of mad

<PhantomCatClock> are we talking about the same clock crew

FLOUNDERMAN_CLOCK

my school only had kidpix and laser disk players well into the late 90s. no math cows for us. I must say though, kid pix is a robust and powerful piece of graphic design software

PhantomCatClock

is flounderman admitting to having kidpix since the 90s what the authorities need to finally stop him

It was so tragic to see phantomcat and robclock each commit suicide by six consecutive gunshots to the back of the head in broad daylight three days from now. seasonal depression you know.

remember four years ago when democrats fucked themselves with having their votes chopped in half, and half of the remaining people were all on facebook saying HRRRRR VOTING DOESN'T MATTER SO I WON'T VOTE

we learned from that, right?

just kidding from what i'm seeing even this early trump is gonna win if he runs again and everyone's going to be just as surprised the second time they didn't unite

VCRClock

the system rewards the candidates who can best convince the people that they "can win"

any lefty who thinks boycotting da vote is smart and cool deserves the womp they get when trump wins again. but -- stating the obvious -- there are a lot of places where literally only the primary matters. if I still lived in new york, I could vote in the democratic primary, then go camp outside Supreme on election day because new york is going to vote blue anyway. if I lived in ohio, though, I'd be mad if friends whose favorite democrat didn't win stayed home.

somehow I don't think 2020 is the year texas goes blue

this whole "unity" and "can s/he win" aspect of how The System works is fundamentally shit. people voting with the "ooohh nooo Candidate Wimp is going to steal votes away from Candidate Shrimp" mentality means that voters don't vote for candidates that represent voters' actual positions on the issues, which just exacerbates the unlikeliness that candidates who don't fit the Pepsi/Coke mold will win. thus charisma's a bigger deal than aptitude or attitudes, and yes ideally somebody who's being nominated for president should be able to work both sides of the aisle, but since that divide is increasingly about "elect me because we gotta stop the other guys," "getting along" means appeasing people who are strictly interested in serving their own interests, without collaboration or compromise, at the expense of others'. because that's who we're electing I guess.

so what I'm saying is there are better voting systems out there, but we don't use them, and we don't leave that decision up to people who know or care

and I'm gonna vote for someone I already know is gonna lose my state, because that's who I agree with, and also my "I didn't vote for him" bumper sticker is too brittle to peel off

is the informal moratorium on politix chat up?
we had a good run

dunno what you're talking about, though, personally I think it's been really inspiring to watch the democrats refocus their efforts in order to line up and defeat their opponent, bernie sanders

voters will surely be charged up and take to the polls en masse when biden calls trump "a peanut clown or whatever. and you know he's, because back then taxis were expensive, but you'd get the one you wanted, and this guy."

maybe the plague will shake things up

who the democratic establishment thought was most "electable", non-incumbent presidential races, 2000-present:
gore, kerry, clinton, clinton, biden

who actually won:
bush, bush, obama, trump, COVID-19

god aint that the truth. the primary used to matter in my state and then last time they scammed the whole thing for this exact purpose. people driving extra far to get to one of the few voting places that hadn't been closed down (suspiciously the ones closed down from previous elections were ones far away from middle class lower class or mexican focused areas) and then waiting hours in line to find out they had suddenly had their political party changed since the last time they vote. I thought the lady in charge of managing elections here was gonna get a shoe thrown at her from how pissed people were when she addressed the public (she had never fucked up like this before either). she got a job with the clinton campaign right after lol. nobody reported on any of it, nobody remembers.

I guarantee a biden victory in arizona.

at least the skype debates between biden and trump will be entertaining. continuous incoherent yelling punctuated by biden takes short breaks to huff smelling salts from a child's hair to stay focused and trump clearly distracted by videos of gorillas fighting on his phone.

the real tragedy here is that due to the """pandemic""" the only Irish pub in town has closed which has whittled my Paddy's Day plans to hanging out in a basement with a bottle of Jameson
