i'm going through old threads and a lot of the content is gone, which is a shame

images and stuff, or actual posts? Two people have deleted their accounts, that I know of. The old software would keep their posts and just not have a centralized place to see all of that user's posts, wooyay, but this new one just erases them from existence.

both, actually

I mean I figured some people deleted their account and that's why their posts are gone, but often there are blank posts which had images in them, I assume

PhantomCatClock

frogbag went down

turns out allowing anyone to register without a password or being in the clock crew lead to it apparently being a host for bad things.

DiscoBallClock

huh yeah, we used frogbag a lot back in the day. sucks that it's gone, along with a whole bunch of content

PhantomCatClock

the only file that was lost was your sig

DiscoBallClock

i'm waiting for it to come home

[FLASH=http://files.myfrogbag.com/kqk1bc/discosig.swf]http://width=300 height=200[/FLASH]

DiscoBallClock

it told me it was just gonna run to the store to get some cigs

[FLASH=http://files.myfrogbag.com/kqk1bc/discosig.swf]http://width=300 height=200[/FLASH]

PhantomCatClock

for some sigs

I'd post the instantrimshot.swf but that was on frogbag

DiscoBallClock

nice.

seems like the death of frogbag was the death of cc bbs shenanigans

DiscoBallClock

The problem with auto plays now is that there are no decent swf uploading sites anymore and the NG File Dump doesn't allow embedding

I don't think vBulletin would have preserved the posts of users who wanted to delete all their posts, which is what the people who deleted their accounts wanted

btw our account deleting friends are:
- clockcrew's most infamous postwhore and baha'i adherent
- :mexican:
- creator of the beloved !!JUMP AROUND!! series (also deleted all his NG shit!!)

the death of frogbag probs killed a lot of old SWF content, because that was thee place to host swfs, but there were a lot of other image hosts that weren't in it for the long run, like imageshack, tinypic and (thankfully just about everyone had already stopped using) photobucket

in many cases hotlinking an image from some random website has withstood the test of time
<Marlin Clock> This thread seems proof positive that divisiveness at any level is usually bad for the Clock Crew.
<PhantomCatClock> are we talking about the same clock crew

RobClock

Also creator of the critically acclaimed OTB series has gone the way of those three

yeah, fair enough. that's a shame, autoplays were an integral part of BBS shenanigans

yeah i've noticed that these three were gone, but aren't there more? I think a certain canadian car clock also deleted his, no?

i mean, if you hotlink the image from a random website it tends to be fine, but i guess we used a lot of those storage services back in the day, judging by the huge number of blank posts on old threads
