sup ccbt i'm posting while reading "but is it... comic aht?"

That link has me thinking There are so many people it's hard to get noticed, and it's hard to get people to sit down and read an unknown independent comic anyways, but there's so much freedom to do whatever now that we have easy access to the digital and physical tools needed to make and learn how to make comics. I'm not sure if it's the MOST beautiful comics have ever been in any year or and I don't know what is either, but they're on to something about the current situation. You can just sorta do whatever. Makes me wish Newgrounds would institute some sort of comics system where you can upload something as a set of images sequentially and view them like the comic and manga upload sites do. Best you can do now is upload a cover and a link to a RAR of the full thing, or upload each image one by one and have a link in the description to the next and last page or chapter. Either that or the reader has to click each bit out of the artist's full gallery one by one which I'm not patient enough for.

I need to read a book book now though I've got the itch. I ordered Stephen King's On Writing because why not and I don't read enough non fiction. Hardbacks are cheap on ebay too.

Is it that you can't find them easily or that you can't find a new title to seek out? If it's the former go here they have damn near everything. Often in absurdly high resolutions scans. Though sometimes they put up the omnibus sets and it's definitive but you want to find ONE story and it's impossible unless you read the whole damn thing. If it's the latter I have no idea, I just hear about stuff more or less randomly. It works but I always feel like there's some amazing series that's perfect for me specifically and I could find it if I just knew where or how to search for it.

good link

ok it didn't have EVERYTHING I searched for but now I have no excuse not to look instead of whining about how i'm a stupid baby

my problem isn't so much finding new things to read as it is that somebody might namedrop three artists I haven't heard of in a sentence, and it reads like driving over a speed bump at 30 mph instead of "oh yeah i know vaguely what gang those people rolled with"

i'm assuming comics piracy sites are all covered in intrusive advertisements

i was right
<Marlin Clock> This thread seems proof positive that divisiveness at any level is usually bad for the Clock Crew.
<PhantomCatClock> are we talking about the same clock crew

FLOUNDERMAN_CLOCK

I don't bother using those sites on a device without adblock. The ads are just obnoxious. Plus I like reading comics on a big monitor if it's not a physical comic, though I can understand wanting to use a tablet.

Got off work yesterday at 6am instead of 7 due to the time change, ended up falling asleep on the couch for two hours around noon, woke up, restocked the wood stove, went to bed, and woke up at 4:30 am having slept through 3 different alarms and more than half of my shift.

I'm so fucked

Isn't that just the nature of knowledge though. The more you know about a subject, the more aware you are of what you don't know about that subject. Like some sort of inverse Dunning-Kruger. (Apparently that's something callled "imposter syndrome" a sort of constant doubt in your own abilitities. That's not it, more a casual acceptance of your own ignorance and inherent limitations, as a human. I'm sure there's a term for it. (I can't find it though, but that's fine. (See? It works.)))

Reminds me of one of La Rochefoucauld's maxims actually: "To understand matters rightly we should understand their details, and as that knowledge is almost infinite, our knowledge is always superficial and imperfect." Case in point: François de La Rochefoucauld was a 17th century French aristocrat who wrote a bunch of maxims? He lived in a chateau somewhere and probably wore a wig.

As a walkin' talkin' livin' breathin' human bein' I'm sure he had teeth at some point in his life. Eyes and eyelashes. He probably ate food pretty regular. Took his fair share of hard shits, loose shits, wet shits, some smelled worse than others. Lots of pissing, running the gamut from deep dark yellow to as clear as spring water. Sprayed a bunch of jizz everywhere, even once or twice up a lady. Probably said something like "Je m'appelle François." Saw a dog at least once. Petted a cat. Smelled a goat. Or maybe not.

Hope you didn't get too much shit for it.

GreyClock

As opposed to this shit:

I don't know anything about Napoleon Hill, apart from the fact that he's a cunt who should wear shards of glass for contact lenses.

I was gonna do one of those "that's what you get when your name sounds like..." type jokes, but couldn't quite get there.

Napoleon's nickname for his bulge or Joséphine's ass? You work it out.

RobClock

Spoke with the supervisor on this morning, was clueless to the fact that I hadn't been in, said he'd look into letting me cash out some banked hours to make up for the shift.

I should've just not called and got my coworker to sign me in and out and took my chances.

Also yeah, this. I remember that when I started my Masters' thesis I had a pretty good idea as to what I wanted to do. For my PhD I'm aware that I need to read a lot of shit to even come close to knowing enough.

Same with literature. I read pretty much daily and I'm painfully aware that I'll never read everything I want to

Got any recommendations, perhaps even from Portugal (or Brazil or Angola or whatever)? I don't think I can name a single writer who writes in Portuguese. Wait, Pessao. That's one. Good job me.

no idea tbh

they were either on the Baby Driver soundtrack or Kieron Gillen's playlist for Phonogram, the two soundtracks that made me realize I know basically nothing about music

bureaucracy generally seems to punish honesty

then people act surprised when they hear statistics about psychopaths thriving in the business sector

Slurpee

did you break a rule?

"no":
hm well, we can't prove it, and the rules say we must, and even if we could there's enough room for doubt that it could become an expensive lawsuit, so it's cheaper to just not bother

"yes":
oh dear! the crime has been conclusively proven. what a hoodlum you are
