No, its because you won't listen to me. Heres a try:
Infinity is not just a number, it describes a characteristic as well. It means that it goes on forever, to a point we cannot reach. PI has infinite decimal places, just as 1/3 has infinite decimal places (.333...). Every number ends with infinite 0's at the end because 25 = 25.0 = 25.00 = 25.000 (and so on forever).
In the case of .333..*3=.999... where .999<.9999<.99999 (and so on forever, adding another 9). Essentially, it equals 1. If you've used limits, then you should know that the limit of a function as it approaches a horizontal asymptote (such as 1 for example) will never actually EQUAL one, but the limit is still 1 because that is what it is going to. When you "reach" infinity, that equation will equal 1.
So if we take .999<.9999<.99999 (going on forever) the destination at infinity will be 1.
