Collab Idea: Clock Crew Open Mic

Hey, I finally came up with a good final idea for collab proposal I've been working on.

Clock Crew Open Mic Night

AUDITIONS
Anybody can do this.  Send me an audio clip of you playing a song, telling stand-up, bombing horribly (intentionally or no).  MP3 format preferred.  Maximum length is a minute.

THE MOVIE
Once we have all the clips, we'll choose the most enjoyable, I dunno, seven or so, maybe more you guys keep'em short.  Then, the animation will consist of you performing what you sent at a comedy club.

HOW WE'RE DOING THIS
I'm gonna try and do this collab a bit differently than the other ones we've done.  Instead of one person producing an individual parts and then putting all the individually produced parts together, we'll have groups of people work on specific aspects and try to make one whole cohesive flash.

I'll do the sound editing and I'll set the general art style of the Flash (I'll keep it simple), and it will be the basis of the drawings for those who join it (yeah, it might be tough to adapt to another person's animation style, but i want to try and make this a more unified looking collab than the others we've done)

NOTE: IF YOU ARE DOING THE SAME AREA OF WORK ON THIS COLLAB AS SOMEBODY ELSE, TRYING TO TALK TO EACH OTHER TO MAKE SURE YOU'RE ON THE SAME TRACK.  TEAMWORK IS KEY

Also, if you want to sign up for something because that sounds fun, but you don't know exactly what it entails, you can still sign up, just make sure post in the thread saying "WHAT?!" or something, we'll explain it.  If something sounds up your alley, I wnat you to be able to do it.  It ain't your fault you're ig'nant.

I'm actually hoping doing the collab in this format may help to reduce the work load on everybody and give them an easier time working on their parts
- Storyboard Artists will talk to each other and map out how they want the animation to go.  I'll head these but I won't be like an overlord or anything, I'll just do my best to keep us being productive.
- Keyframe Artists will recieve sections of the storyboard, and they'll make the keyframes, fully finished artwork of the characters for the movie to the timing of the storyboard.  You guys know how keyframes work, right?  Keyframe artists will be expected to retain the visual style of the movie (which I will draw up references of).
- Animators will receive the keyframes and animate the frames in between.  You're expected to maintain the visual style of the keyframes and not suck.
- Background Artists will receive the thumbnails/sketches of the backgrounds and draw them. Once again I'll draw up references, and you'll be expected to maintain the visual style of them.
- Prop Artists are the same as the background artists, except they draw the props.  Backgrounds Artists and Prop Artists are expected to communicate with each other, as prop artists will help produce the props that are in the background.

So that's my idea.  Too complicated/formal?  Thoughts?

If we decide to do this, auditions will be open for a while, to ensure everybody gets a chance to participate who wants to, and because I'm fucking busy as shit with college and I need some time to unbusy myself.

It's not "my" part, everybody's working together on all the parts at once, it's just they're doing a more specialized job so that the work is a lot easier and we make a nice final animation.  I'm working on the keyframes and storyboards just so I can kinda help things move along since I figure those would be the hardest parts to do.

I've signed everybody up.  When it gets time to work on the part of the movie you're signed up for and you decide you don't want to do that part anymore it'll be no deal, I'll do my best to pick up any slack.  If you decide you wanna help out with something that you're not signed up for, that's cool too.  We'll just take your eyes.

I'm figuring I'll allow plenty of time for auditions (if somebody wants to work on their audition for a bit or is too busy) because I'm busy as fuck until summer and I wanna make sure I can actually pay attention to this.

I just came up with an idea that, frankly, I have ulterior motives for.

https://www.dropbox.com/ is a website that has an amazing invention, possible only through the magic that is the Internet.  Ever wanted a folder on your computer that multiple computers had access to?  That's Dropbox.  It's exactly that.  It's magic.  Bust a nut.

However, it costs money.  There is a free version, though, and that's what I (and you guys) can use.  The problem is that there's a 2gig size limit, which works fine unless you start setting up multiple folders with different people (like I have).  So, here's what I want you guys to do.

See, when you click that link, Dropbox knows I've referred you to it, and you get 250mb and I get 250mb, all the way up to 8 gigs to use for free.

But because I hate Ayn Rand I'm going to be nice and advise that you guys do the same thing.  So, to make sure we don't waste referrals, when you refer me, post, so I can keep track.  Then, when I have been referred four times, I'll put the next person's link in that list instead of mine, and then when people refer him they post to let him know, and we move down the list.

It's also fun because it's a race.  If you don't refer sooner you might not get the full 1 gig!  Gaps!

So it turns out I don't get 2gigs, the person who signed up and the person who referred the person both get 250mb, which is about x8 less than I was hoping :\

So, I guess I'll just put a new link up after I get 4 referrals.  Having 3.5 total gigs ain't bad either
