This game looks fucking awesome. It's like Skyrim if Skyrim wasn't a casualized piece of shit

The graphics look great, the combat looks intense and skillfull, the story looks interesting (or at least not I'm a edgy teen like Skyrim's), and the magic looks unique; it seems like they're going for "slow cast but super powerful and cool looking" for magic.

I'm excited for this game. It's coming out in May 22nd. Just too bad it's console exclusive...

To be fair, you don't have anything. Clocks are just machines that tick.

No PC release, that's too bad.

I predict that it will turn out..... mediocre

Thor

Quote from: RipsClock;1900749looks like more generic fantasy rpg dragonage/skyrim shit to me

But the combat and game mechanics look good. The setting and story are really unimportant. This is a video game after all, not a movie.

But I thought you liked mediocre games. Why else would you have Mess Effect stuff as your avatar and sig?

Quote from: RipsClock;1900753i see a dude spamming a shoot arrow command... how is that good combat? thats generic game combat 101.

There's a unique climbing system similar to Shadow of the Colossus, ally combination abilities, enemies with specific weak points you have to reach (again like Shadow of the Colossus), and various weapon types that actually have unique fighting styles. The combat appears to be heavily influenced by Monster Hunter, another game by Capcom which has very skill based combat.

There's also a grappling system, which is very rare and opens up a lot of unique possibilities.

Quoteis that a mainstream game? better hate on it to hold up my rep with the elitest video game sperg crowd

I enjoy many mainstream gaming titles. I just don't enjoy BAD mainstream gaming titles. Mass Effect is a cover based 3rd person shooter with regenerating health. That's about as generic and easy as a modern game can be. You don't see the problem with combat that's nothing more than "hide behind cover (which is everywhere in every level, even though it doesn't make sense that there are chest high walls in the middle of corridors and in random fields), shoot when health is high, do nothing when health is low, autowin"? There is no depth to such combat at all.

887 people agree with me. I guess they're all spergs too.

In that case it should be taking place in some kind of floaty abstract world or something. Colours and shapes fuck yeah.

I agree with you about a lot of modern games having really unexciting gameplay mechanics but it's gonna take some seriously good ones to get me interested in generic fantasy world number 238.

AstronautClock

I guess it adds the sneaking when its nighttime. but its still hack and slash. will there be difficult puzzles involved? that would be neat

Topcatyo

plus those 887 people mostly just have their panties in a twist about the ending

Well, I think Capcom entertained the possibility of a PC port, but no actual announcement was made.

That said, they really need to drop Games For Windows - LIVE.

Yes I agree, the setting is shit. I like the realistic and literal interpretations of the mythical creatures, but so far it looks like most of the enemies are goblins and orcs, which is a pretty tired enemy list.

Quote from: RipsClock;1900788Mass Effect is a character driven heavy story kind of game. Playing with biotics to create new combinations to blow up enemies is legitimately fun. On higher difficulty levels, combat can be hard, as the AI will try to flank you and overpower you by numbers. Just playing multiplayer with dwarf and biggs, we seem to always take out the enemies in ways that have us laughing forever. Just because it takes inspiration from other games in the cover system, weapons system, or whatever else, doesn't take away from the fact that its really fun to play.

3.5 million people agree with me.
Purchase numbers do not necessarily equate to enjoying the game. I purchased Mass Effect 2, but I did not particularly like it.

I played ME2 on the hardest difficulty and the only trouble I ever ran into in the game were enemies with tons of armor that acted as bullet sponges. The enemy AI wasn't amazing and it was virtually impossible to die, especially with your cohorts backing you up.

As for the game being story driven... the setting is interesting (although it really is not as original as people keep giving it credit for; all the alien races are ripped straight from Star Wars or Star Trek, as is most of the tech) and the writing is good enough for a game, but I am of the opinion that the gameplay mechanics are more important than setting or writing in a story unless the story is incredibly good, which is not so in Mass Effect 2, at least. The drama over the ending of ME3 leads me to believe the writing probably has not improved.

As for you guys having fun with the game... that's nice but isn't really an objective way to determining if a game is good or not. I'm sure you guys could have fun watching Plan 9 From Outer Space, but it's still an objectively bad movie. Friends can have fun doing anything together

That game looked like it had terrible MMO combat from what I've seen in gameplay trailers, and from what I've heard from people who played it.
