Anybody get this last night? I bought the PS4 Glacier White bundle, mostly for the console but also for Destiny. Had a blast last night, got some studying to do and then I'm plannin on playin the rest of the day.

Apparently the XB360 version is the best last-gen version. I played the PS3 version during the BETA and it was definitely playable but it looked like horse shit.

BilliardBall10

it's the game made by bungie, right?

and its for the ps3/ps4, right?

it looks awesome.

but is it worth buying for the ps3?
coz i have a ps3

AstronautClock

buy it if you like shooters. I think it looks really boring personally. nice environments though

Hello.

Instead of googling im just going to type my questions here, because thats how we roll now.

Is this a multiplayer game? Or can you just play single player aswell.  Cause i am a grumpy old man now who hates playing with other people. I am not kidding.

Destiny is what's known as a "shared-world shooter" meaning that other people join your game seamlessly to play alongside you. It isn't mandatory that you play with other people however. Ultimately it feels like a combination of Halo, Borderlands, and Planetside. Something you'll probably like (that I currently dislike) about the game is that there is no real chat between strangers. The only form of communication is party chat. There's no proximity chat, no online multi chat, nothing.

There are currently 4 planets to explore and do missions on. Earth, venus, mars, and the moon. Each planet has a large overworld in which the missions take place and each mission can be done solo or with friends. While you're exploring each planet, you'll probably see other people doing their own thing (like an MMO) but they usually won't bother you. They come into play when public events take place in the game world. Public events are usually randomly generated encounters such as boss fights and missions. You complete these with other random people who can join in. This is similar to Guild Wars 2. They're fun to participate in and usually have pretty decent rewards that go along with them. If you like grinding for loot (Diablo 2, Diablo 3, WoW, GW2, Borderlands, etc.) this is your game.

Finally theres a hub area where you can pick different bounties to do (or quests), upgrade gear, buy ships and sparrows (hover-bikes) and generally just hang out. Think of it like a city from WoW.

You kill baddies, you get loot, there's pvp, etc etc. It doesn't do anything super groundbreaking but it's a very polished experience.

I don't have a PS4 or Xbone so I'm playing Firefall instead.

Again, Xbox 360 version isn't a bad version of the game by any means so if you wanna play Destiny without buying a new console that's the route to go. Bungie had good experience working with the XB360 and it shows. It's relatively compareable to the current gen PS4/XB1 versions. The ps3 version is playable but ugly as hell.

Cell isn't exactly easy to develop for. Sony learned that the hard way with the PS3. That's why PS4 is essentially a gaming PC in terms of architecture.

NintendoClock

Also if any of you fags have a PS4 please lemme know. I need people to play with. :(

BilliardBall10

so i should not buy it for the ps3, right?

damn, it looked so cool...

that seamless multiplay sounds pretty cool. I like that you cant chat.

that's why its multiplayer is so successful!

that's you assuming i have a 360

Figured it was a safe assumption. Most people who own a previous gen console own an XB360 more so than they do a PS3.

miracle fruit

Topcatyo

Topcatyo

So yeah I have nothin else to contribute to this thread! Y'all enjoy your game, I'ma be over in the Firefall thread.

I heard that the servers are shit. transporting between planets takes ages and also that there is already a problem with hackers who have infinite ammo/health

who can confirm these things for me

Servers are fine. Transporting between planets takes roughly 10-15 seconds. I had a few disconnects during the first day but only a few. I had one instance of it taking up to a minute or more between planets but that only happened once. Haven't seen any hackers.

As for whether or not you should buy it, it's up to you. I would say if you have friends to play with, definitely. If not, maybe wait? I'm having a lot of fun with it though.

AstronautClock

sounds pretty good I might get it if its still played a lot by people when metal gear comes out. I will prob buy it for ps4 then though
