in fact if that sounds acceptable i can make time to write up something to that effect.

I was gonna say, aside from clearly talking to us, it sounds like you already wrote at least part of what you were describing, just there. S'byotiful

PhantomCatClock

Also please hurry up on this, because I need that big list of clocks to confirm that TheLastUniclock isn't taken in case I ever need to change my clockname. The forum userlist is only so helpful.

Strangeclock, Munglai, and ClockRadioClock have made some of my favorite clock movies

MelloYelloClock

Currently working on the archive right now. In terms of accessibility and ease of use, what layout would be the most preferred? Clock Movies listed by year? or Individually by author?

Ideally I'd want to see some highlighted classics (maybe in a rotation) and then the rest of the movies organized by author

PhantomCatClock

If you're making it a database anyway, have a classy default but why not let us choose between author or year?

I assume itd be impossible to have the option to choose between the two.

Well then I'd have to say author. (Maybe put the year next to the title in parentheses if possible?)

MySQL/PHP was made for that shit. I even managed it in Flash.

I'd add KoalaClock to that list. His contributions and the creation of .co.uk kept us alive before the boom of 05. Renegade and BlueClock would probably be worth adding in there too.

There's a lot of notables but i'm not necessarily sure they should be added. Pepsi, DrunkMagiKoopa, and Battery all come to mind..

BilliardBall10

guys, i've found this zip of the old ''Clockopedia'' archive of the clock crew.

here:

it might help us to learn more stuff about the CC's epoch.

The only advice I'm going to give is to make sure you don't bite off more than you can chew. It can get pretty easy to burn out on something like this, and over time the payoff doesn't match the amount of work you put into it. Keep it simple and sweet.

There could be a pretty decent pay off here. A nice new website is long overdue. Might be just the jolt this place needs, if only for a bit.

That alone could be worth it I suppose.

AbsintheClock

It could be, but there is a lot of work for just one or two people. The strength of this group is not so much in the site itself, but the ability to carry on in a collaborative effort. I've always felt bad for whoever had to program the site because usually the goals are loftier than the achievabilaty one person can reach.

Topcatyo

Yeah. Shame the Clockcrew doesn't have a team of coders on hand. We had a lot of talented folks for that kind of stuff who are long since gone.

Sinister Clock

Can't we recycle any old code from any of the billion functional CC sites?

The only PHP files we have, or can have, are from the previous incarnation of clockcrew.cc. Recall that .cc, at its death, was broken as shit, and not just because the server was dying.
If PineappleClock retired and decided he wanted to spend the rest of his days restoring the Clock Crew to its former glory FOR FREE, I've got all the old files from .cc, and we're running on a copy of the old database. He'd just have to completely rewrite a bunch of shit so that it'd work with Simple Machines forums instead of vBulletin, the forums software we dropped because you have to pay to upgrade it to a version that radical Islamist script kiddies can't get into.
<Marlin Clock> This thread seems proof positive that divisiveness at any level is usually bad for the Clock Crew.
<PhantomCatClock> are we talking about the same clock crew
