Ventrilo Server Information

SUP GUYZ, today I set up a ventrilo server to hang out and chat on. Lounge is the main chat, and then there are some sub-channels for things like gaming and CC Academy. Switch to Be Right Back Room when you're going AFK.



IP/Hostname: VOICE-VA2.BRANZONE.COM

Port: 3809

Password: None for the server; The Lounge pass is "fifen."

And don't come into main chat without testing your mic first. Click "Setup" and the test options are in the bottom left.

SETTING A PRESS-TO-TALK BIND

Click "Setup" and set a Global Hotkey for Press-To-Talk, or you can set up more customizable binds like so:

Doesn't work with Mac. It says the server needs a Speex Codec. The Mac client is only a prototype anyhow. Hopefully they'll finish development soon.

I'll see about changing the codec it's using to something that will be completely compatible.

Work in progress, if you get disconnected it's because i'm restarting the server, so sit tight and by the time that countdown ends it should be back.

I'd say that only similarity between Skype and Vent is that you can talk.  Unless I'm completely mistaken.  Anyway, good idea, though I keep myself away from talking and interacting with other people.

It's a dedicated server like Teamspeak or a voice mIRC.  This was a great idea and I can't believe no one on the staff thought of it sooner.

Tree provided a nice little FAQ for you guys up there in the first reply, and i know Snapple and I are more than familiar with the program, so if you ever need help shoot us a PM.
