It gives the otion when you make a new document whether you want AS2 or AS3. I always pick 2 because 3 is really weird.

I use Flash MX when I can get it. I remember absolutely hating MX 2004 with a passion, but I was using a cracked copy so that I could teach Denariax, so maybe it's not as horrible as I remember. Flash 8 has a wealth of horrible, obnoxious features, and CS3 has even more. I want trials for old versions, too, because I often recommend for people learning flash to use as much trial time as they can learning while a CD Key happens.

There really isn't a point in going back to old versions anymore. Adobe has started making some major improvements with 9. And it has full backward compatibility, can export and open flash 1-8 files... Can even switch to AS2/1... So... why even use an old version? 5 and before were horribly unstable by comparison.

I was trepidations about the Adobe switch at first, but they are moving Flash now in directions that Macromedia could never have done.

You can also change the design template and shortcuts so that they match any previous version of flash. For me, I use Flash 5 shortcuts, because up until that point the shortcuts were the same.

cs3= fail. flash 8 is what I use and not a problem yet.
