i think its lame ( i know this is contradictionary to stuff i said before but whatever).    Cause i loves games that tell a story and lets you be a part of it, making a movie about that story just takes away the awesome interaction part and leaves a bland mediocre movie.

I really hope that the Metal Gear Solid movie never gets finished.

Wouldn't it become something like Mission Impossible with a bit of drama?

because a metal gear game says way more through a videogame than a movie can. It's kind of like the inverse of many videogames based off of movies.

I'm still baffled with the failures of the Final Fantasy: Spirits Within and Super Mario Bros. movies.  They could have been great, but someone screwed it up.  And I have no idea how.  It's almost like they were written by people who had never played the games.

The animated Super Mario Bros. film from Japan (released around the same time) was good. Go figure.

I don't know how you would even make The Sims into a movie.
I hope the Max Payne movie doesn't suck.

Castlevania (Late 2008 or Early 2009)[8]
Gears of War (2009)[20]
God of War (TBA)[21]
Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time (July 10, 2009)[30]

These could be really good if done correctly.

ALSO:
Warcraft (2009)[44]

Holy shit yes. If done right this could be one of the best movies ever. Warcraft 3 has one of the best videogame stories/universes I've ever come across, as long as they CG animate it like the Warcraft 3 / WoW cinematics are animated.

The reason games never work as movies is because game stories are written to last over 10 hours, while movies start to become too long at 2 hours.  Thus, you'd need to really dumb down the game plot to make it fit into a movie, which oftentimes includes getting rid of the fun stuff just to be able to fit in the basic plot.

No one likes a cliffhanger, and what if the first movie sucked anyway?

AirPumpClock

House of the Dead had a supposedly awful movie based off of it. There's a clip on Youtube where game footage is used when zombies are killed close up, it looks horrible.

Anyways, much like games based off of movies, movies based off of games suck. Although I kinda liked the live action Super Mario Bros. movie for some reason.

PoisonshroomClock

I thought Silent Hill was a good movie (although I've never played through the first game)

Meh, I heard Bob Hoskins got extremely pissed at the directors of the SMB movie.  They were husband and wife, and they both were supposedly so arrogant that the actors didn't want to work with them.  Shigeru Miyamoto himself is in denial about the whole thing to this day.

Either way, I think a Legend of Zelda or Phoenix Wright movie would be awesome.  Even if they sucked, I'd still be intrigued by way of the Streisand effect.
