This was raised in another thread but I thought if I made a topic for it I was more likely to get an answer. Increasingly frequently when I'm trying to watch flash on NG or videos on Youtube they will load very quickly and then play to two seconds in and then stop, often there will be no sound either. Does anyone else have this problem and can anyone suggest a solution? I'm using Firefox on a Windows.

it's not usually browser specific... it's likely a problem with your ISP. Check in IE and see if it doesn't still happen occasionally.

See, flash is the same on all platforms. Regardless of the OS or browser you use, you're still using the same flash client.

I used to have this problem a lot. I called my ISP, and actually got someone who knew what they were talking about, and they admitted that there was a problem up the chain between me and the Youtube servers... A few days later the problem went away.

As for NG doing this as well, that could be your flash client. Re-install it from Adobe. If that doesn't fix it, check drivers for your processor.

I've had that happen to me, particularly with flash movies.  Preloaders will go fine, but then when you play, it only goes a few seconds.

I usually just clear the cache and restart firefox to correct it.

This is impossible. What ISP could you possibly have that would allow you to speak with someone who even gives a shit, let alone knows what they're talking about?

I guess it's the perk of having a business account with an actually decent ISP... Unfortunately I hear that they are going bankrupt.

Its actually a simple problem..

Do you have flash open during this? I know there is a problem with Flash Player .ocx being loaded and the new version 10 is above the release of the flash ocx that came with the flash tool set. It causes a crash when they are both loaded because of a stupid debug error cause fucktards thought it was a good idea to inject code into flash.

Thus they changed rendering...

Happened to me 10 minutes ago, just restart Firefox.
if there were two guys on the moon and one of them killed the other with a rock that'd be pretty fucked up wouldn't it?

Happens to me all the time on both this computer and my mother's.  I used to just switch to the IE tab to watch the videos (actually the only reason I got the IE tab...) but then it stopped working for that, too, so I need to actually open up IE to watch them.
