The only thing I really don't like about McCain's choice is that it seems like he picked it just so he can say "Oh, by the way, we have a woman as VP."
I can kinda see this race now becoming a thing of what people want as a first more: a black president or a woman vice president.
If it comes down to that the actual politics won't matter, which would defeat the entire purpose of electing a president.

We do need a better political system, but these elections are a good step forward.

I hate the idea of political parties.  People voting based on whether or not a person is in their party, not whether or not they agree with their politics.  The independent parties not standing a chance even if they have good political strategies.
The problem is I don't see it being done away with any time soon
