Death of Disney Villains (SPOILERS)

I just realized that Disney villains tend to die in extremely gruesome ways in those "nice kid's films". I guess it's a credit to Disney that they think that much of their audience, but it's still chilling.

Let's look back at several of these horrible undoings. Obviously, these are how the stories end, so if you don't want them ruined, avert your eyes.


SNOW WHITE AND THE SEVEN DWARVES (1937):
The Witch falls off a crumbling cliff after it's struck by lightning.

PETER PAN (1953):
The crocodile chases Captain Hook, trying to eat him. We don't find out if he succeeds.

SLEEPING BEAUTY (1959):
Maleficent is slain by Prince Charming when she turns into a giant dragon. He lunges it straight through her heart.

101 DALMATIANS (1961):
While maniacally trying to run the Dalmatians off the road (who are in a moving truck that isn't even involved), Cruella De Vil's car is run off the road by Jasper and Horace, who were trying to crash into the moving truck. She's fine, but otherwise ruined.

THE JUNGLE BOOK (1967):
Mowgli ties a flaming stick to Shere Kahn's tail to make him run away after he almost killed Baloo.

THE ARISTOCATS (1970):
Alfred the greedy butler is locked in a small trunk and shipped to Timbuktu, presumably with no air.

THE RESCUERS (1977):
Madame Medusa clings to her sinking houseboat while it's being destroyed by fireworks, wailing for her diamond.

THE GREAT MOUSE DETECTIVE (1986):
Rattigan plummets off the top of Big Ben, dragging down the hero, Basil, with him. Basil survives by pedaling what's left of Rattigan's bicycle-powered blimp back to the clock tower.

OLIVER AND COMPANY (1988):
Sykes is run over by a train while chasing Oliver and his gang across the Manhattan Bridge.

THE LITTLE MERMAID (1989):
The enormous Ursala is skewered in the stomach by the jagged bow of a large ship being steered by Prince Eric. She commences to explode and drown.

THE RESCUERS DOWN UNDER (1990):
McCleach falls down a large waterfall after fighting off a bunch of crocodiles.

BEAUTY AND THE BEAST (1991):
Gaston is thrown off the top of the castle and plummets screaming down a huge chasm.

ALADDIN (1992):
Jafar doesn't actually die in this one, but when he becomes a genie, he's tricked to being imprisoned in a lamp. He dies in the sequel, THE RETURN OF JAFAR (1994), when his lamp melts and he's painfully destroyed.

THE LION KING (1994):
Scar is devoured by hyenas that he thought were going to save him. We see him writhe around in a large silhouette cast on Pride Rock as hyenas jump on him and gnash into his flesh.

POCAHONTAS (1995):
After Governor Radcliffe wounds John Smith, the English colonists mutiny and wrap him in chains. He presumably doesn't die, but he's going to be at the mercy of 17th century English justice when he gets back.

THE HUNCHBACK OF NOTRE DAME (1996):
Cluade Frollo stands on one of the gargoyles, prepared to run a sword through Quasimodo and Esmerelda, when it comes to life (as you recall they do) and they both fall off Notre Dame to the burning streets below. I don't remember that clearly, but I think that Frollo's moral turmoil were represented by vivid visions of terror, so his fall into the flames might have taken on a much more infernal nature as he fell.

HERCULES (1996):
Hades the God of Death is sucked down the bottom of the River Styx by the souls that he torments. Since he's immortal and can't drown, I assume he's pretty unhappy down there.

TARZAN (1999):
Clayton is fighting Tarzan in the forest, when they both fall. Tarzan gets away, but Clayton is strangled by vines wrapping around his throat.

THE EMPEROR'S NEW GROOVE (2000):
Actually one of the more amusing ends of the villains, this being a more lighthearted Disney movie than usual. Yzma is just turned into a small kitten and can't turn back.


After this, I stopped paying attention to Disney movies. Maybe you know some other horrible fates for the Disney villains, which could have gone a long way to traumatizing their child audiences, but in a good way.

Hook is Disney canon?

Well, in that movie, the Crocodile statue or whatever then falls on him and finishes what it started.

But there's a Disney sequel to Peter Pan with Captain Hook in it, which implies that he got away. Still, seeing him swim maniacally in the water while the crocodile snapped at him was pretty jarring.

Yeah, that was pretty terrifying. We don't see the villains smash on the ground a mile below, but we did see the camera keep going down past Clayton while he was gagging.

Yeah I got scared at that part when I was a kid. I used to be afraid of death so every time a cartoon character died I'd start feeling weird.

Nobody really died in that movie, and the villains were less "villains" and more like "guys following orders to do shit". Stitch, Jumba, and Pleakely lived happy lives on Earth, and Gantu was "retired." Although what that means i do not know.

The only person who was the closest to dead was that guard after Stitch did the "DNA in your spit" trick to bust out, but then you see him duck under his hat and have the plasma bursts miss him and blow open the door.



Heck, the only thing that was really seriously damaged were a few ships and several ice cream cones, along with a house. Looks like plasma is surprisingly nonlethal.

I never saw the movie, so all that is kind of flying over my head. Maybe I should see it at some point, but I don't know if it's worth it.
