Minimal Techno - The Renaissance of Electronica

Lately, Minimal Techno, Techno, and Tech house have become highly popular around the world in the club scenes. Nobody knows how or why this genre became so popular so quickly, but most of the major Big name DJs have started to create and unleash monster tracks for this Genre. A few stellar artists as well have made names of themselves by making tracks for this genre and breaking out this way. Even Trance has become more "Techy" in a way, thanks to Sander Van Doorn.

So what is Minimal Techno and how does it sound like?

The sound is trippy, clicky, glitchy, and is meant to be mixed with possibly another track or more at the same time to get some massive effect. Some artists who do this genre of music currently are Richie Hawtin, Magda, Ellen Aillen, M.A.N.D.Y., Mistress Barbara, Radio Slave, Dubfire and Sharam (Deep Dish), D-Nox & Beckers, Lutzenkirchen, Butch, Oxia, Gui Boratto, Marc Romboy, Gaiser, Marc Houle, Jerome Sydenham, Aphex Twin, Trentmoller, Len Faki, Oliver Huntemann, Oliver Koletzki, Guy J, Tocadisco, John Digweed, Neil Quigley, Sasha, and more.

I decided to make this thread to discuss and post some good shit coming from this genre, and my singles which are all minimal styled as well.

I forgot Ricardo Villalobos, Sorry, I just pulled a random assortment of names. Anyways Alex Young seems to be the hype of the genre right now, as well as a new group called Format:B. Also I personally think Richie Hawtin is better than Villalobos.

yeah, but you don't seem to know the full scale of minimal. Just some of the recent hip do-rads. It's massive expansive genre, full many sub-genre's. MicroHouse to Ambient Minimal etc.

Just on the top of my head I think of the huge missing gap of the group snd, and the massive popularity of minimal dub techno, no mention of Echospace? that shit is outstanding I love it!

But that would be considering Minimal as a genre and thus Minimal Techno as a subgenre. You don't call everything electronica and minimal as basic minimal techno.

I'm not, that almost offends me you think I am. If I where doing that I would include, trance, acid house, acid, ambient, french house etc. So many other repetitive or minimal styles of electronic. I was speaking about electronic genres that use the term minimal, and minimal sprung from some of these many minimal movements, which in it's self sprung from other forms of music minimalism like reich, glass, etc.

I might be way off topic, but have you ever used Bjork in your sets, Satan? She has a not-so-secret fetish for glitch, and her singing can have a really awesome primal scream quality to it.

Sorry, just making sure. Too many people out here don't know the corrent term of word when describing genres correctly. Butch lately has been banging out some decent and great shit. Paco Osuna and Paul Ricth did a great Vynil release also that I have been using.

I use some of her remixed stuff sometimes, I have some of her latest stuff and use that at times. Depends on how I start my sets though.
