Lots of good dingen in this thread. I agree with the Chrono Trigger, Chrono Cross and EarthBound dingen.

Also, Dragon Quest VIII easily has one of the most mooi soundtracks in any video game. Eaaaaasily.

I remember being really, really disappointed in it. I think part of it might have been how empty the world seemed. And the combat was pretty crappy, if memory serves me well. I might have to track a copy of it down, though.

I really, really, really want to play the Dragon Quest games. The last one I remember playing was Dragon Warrior III on my GBC and I loved it. I really need to play VIII especially.

Yeah, VIII was my first DQ game, but it's one of my favorite games of all time now. I didn't even mind the random encounters. I think I ended up at around the 116 hour mark by the time I was done with it. I can't wait for IX, although I do wish it were on an actual console. Maybe that whole upgraded Wii version rumor will come to be true?

The huge, empty overworld/dungeons were the biggest issue that game had.
I thought the combat system was pretty innovative and fun, I liked that. You just had to fight way to much battles in those boring, never ending environments.

And for an awesome game with awesome music: Terranigma.

oh yeah fzerox has some of the most metal tracks ever. i mean other games like contra have pretty metal tracks as well but they aren't recorded the same. fzerox gets you fuckin pumped.
