The only VN with halfway decent writing I know of is Yume Miru Kusuri. I was skeptical of all the praise it was getting at the time but the plot and characters managed to be fairly compelling, I played the routes with the "cat girl" and the bullying victim. The art is shit though, especially in the sex scenes. So many anatomy issues. Of course I played this like 6-7 years ago so I might be wrong (except about the art I specifically remember the anatomy being god awful)
