Yo, here's a mind puzzle for you: do you think a transgender person would recognize me being grossed out by her arm hair for the compliment that it is? In the knowledge that I'm not grossed out by arm hair on dudes, but I am grossed out by arm hair on ladies. This is by far one of the dumbest random questions that has popped into my head in recent history.

Also Rob and VCR, you guys wanna elaborate on your experiences? It's quite cathartic.

PhantomCatClock

I think the gut reaction would be to get embarrassed like "YOU MISSED A SPOT, EX-MAN" and possibly defensively angry or just think you're grossed out by her in general and not the arm hairs specifically

get you a girl from portugal she'll have hairy arms and kick your ass for noticing no need to worry about social ambiguities

probably not?
it's generally impolite to draw attention to somebody's body in a negative way and that doesn't really change if it's negative attention that happens to affirm their identity

ok we learned nothing about this

the answer is obviously c, but that's just pure common sense, it has absolutely no correlation to anything I was taught in my 13 (officially 2.5) years of fancy schoolin'
you know, I like A, it's a good thought, but I'd award extra points for D

Distancing myself physically isn't really an option, or I'd have to tear apart my core group of friends.

I excused myself from the group chat that was the last thing connecting me to my (old) core group of friends, because homegirl was in it causing me problems

Even when she tickles my neck ever so slightly in passing at a party or some shit. It's funny that VCR seems to be under the impression that this is some recent thing, I've actually known her for years now. (If I'm reading that part of your post right.) Yesterday was just a bad one.
Yeah I guess I made the assumption because it was new information to me, and because it didn't occur to me that such a thing could go on for a while if the person in question were an inextricable part of your social circle. It's also very easy for me to be like "nah bro, I wouldn't let someone keep doing stuff that fucks with me, I would definitely have had multiple awkward conversations about how it made me feel until it stopped," hence the assumption of short duration, but then my situation wasn't especially similar to yours. I wasn't being flirted with, and I wasn't dealing with someone who would've been sorry to lose me.

in second grade, my class was lining up against the classroom wall to leave the classroom and go to gym or something ok

there was a construction paper pumpkin decoration taped to said wall, and a girl in my class brushed lightly against it, barely touching it. I think the "stem" of the pumpkin had previously been breached, and this was the final straw; the lower part of the pumpkin detached and fell to the floor.

"gee, [redacted]," I remarked, as an erudite second grade humorist might, "you sure have spiky arm hairs."

sirens sounded. the class was astounded. before I knew it, I was surrounded. word had got to the feds that I'd said [redacted] had "long arm hairs." FIRST of all, that's not what I said, and --

Yeah, no. I'm the sorta master of leaving things unacknowledged, unaddressed, unsaid, festering, whatever. Also my initial post was sort of hyperbolic, this isn't some daily toil. I've gone months or years (years might be a stretch, but...) of succesfully shutting this out or even mostly forgetting about it. It might just flare up once in a blue moon under the right conditions. Also there have been long periods where I was convinced I was deluding myself with this "she's flirting with me" stuff. (And I have to say, it also seems incredibly douchy and arrogant of me, to assume something like that about a, for all I know, happily married woman.) So I still have my doubts, only it's such a long list of little things and there are definite patterns. Also it's weird in the sense that not only do I seem to relapse every once in a while over the course of years, she apparently keeps at it as well? Whatever. I'm still "trying to figure it out" which I agreed wasn't really productive. It's just... some shit. Sometimes.

Side-note: I hate the word flirt(ing).

The girl I was into was someone who started working at my place of employ, so at the time I was fucked over on a daily basis. Fortunately it wasn't a job where being moody to the point of stupor impacted my ability to stay employed.

alright im sober, shaved shit and showered, lets see how well i can articulate this without divulging specific details

known this girl my entire life, first girl i ever had a crush on, first girl i ever dated, first girl i ever kissed. Our young relationship was cut short by my parents basically forbidding me from seeing her, we stayed very very close, seeing each other every day in school and so forth. She went on to date other fellas, I went on to date other girls, and eventually i cut contact with her when it came to be that i was single and she was repeatedly using me for emotional stability while dating shitty people. Years pass, I encounter her sister at work one day (this would have been fall of 2018), who informs me her sister (the girl in question) wants to get ahold of me. I gave her my contact info, and eventually we meet up and start talking. Shes been dating a fella for about 7 years, they have a child, and she is remarkably unhappy. the two of us end up spending pretty much every spare moment together for the better part of six months, and are in communication via text or snapchat otherwise. She is aware that I am in love with her, but I would never intentionally dismantle a household and so it simply floats. She informs me that her family has accused her of having an affair with me, and that now she and her boyfriend are set to be married (doubling down always fixes things, eh). I cease speaking to her for a period of a few months, as to not further strain what is a tumultuous situation. The wedding gets cancelled. She reaches back out and we begin speaking again. She has obtained a new job so our schedules no longer mesh up but we still see one another 3-4 times a week and talk constantly. This goes on for a few weeks. Then she informs me she's been seeing a guy from the gym. Every day. For a week and a half. She is mad that I am upset by this, I say to her that we talk 24/7, we spend every spare minute together, I am an active participant in her son's life, and what we do is essentially dating without physical intimacy. From there it devolves into her telling me a bunch of stuff about how I'm the most important person in her life and that she loves me but she could never rebound off a 7 year relationship into something with me because she wouldnt want to fuck things up between the two of us and she knows she would and la da da da. I told her that I've only ever loved her and I want to spend my life with her. She turns me down. I leave. Couple of weeks pass. She begins texting me again, she's away to the city for work. She misses me, she hates the city, everything she goes to do there just  makes her wish i was there too, how she cant wait to see me again etc etc. Like a sucker I fall for it. She gets home the following saturday, busy cant see me. Sunday, busy can't see me. Monday we meet up on her lunch break. Like the entire preceding week had not transpired. Im exhausted at this point. I don't want to hurt her, but she's dragging me through the dirt emotionally and I say basically that. Things have been quiet since then, which would have been back in October, until she messaged me on snapchat this Thursday saying she misses me and she just doesnt know how to talk to me anymore.

At this stage I can rationally say to myself that the whole thing is unhealthy, that she doesn't treat me well, and that if we were together now I would be her settling for not the first second or even third choice. It would be hallow, and meaningless. And then I talk to her for five minutes and my stomach rolls over onto itself and I'd take a bullet for her just like that.

I'm not painting a picture of myself here as a confident and mature adult so I hope the ridicule isn't too viscous but yeah that is an abridged telling of my little-red-haired-girl exploits for the last year.

It's hard to resent a person, whom you would devote your entire soul, on the basis that they don't want to fuck you. I have ceased engaging in conversation, don't seek her out anymore, but I don't have it within me to ghost her when she hits me up with remarks about missing me. Usually reply with 'it sucks but i guess this is just the way things are.'

I watched a youtube video recently where some artists redrew their own work from years prior, and I thought it might be fun. So i tried it.

Thoughts? I'll gladly accept criticism on my current work
