HALT!

Before you continue, this thread requires your attention.

do i know how to start a page or what

I'm playing old apogee games and for some reason todd replogle using the high score table in monuments of mars to dunk on george broussard is cracking me up

(the lowest possible score besides 0 is 4000)

I want to know the story behind this so bad
did broussard do something to tick him off? eat his sandwich or something?
just some lighthearted teasing between colleagues?

RobClock

Probably just teasing because monuments on mars is basically Pharaohs Tomb/Arctic Adventure but better

George has the last laugh though by taking Todd's baby, making it a household name, becoming the de facto face of the franchise, and then running it into the ground

RobClock

It's very exciting to see someone else bring up Apogee/3DR in casual conversation, like I've been training for this moment my entire life

PhantomCatClock

Hitman VR but the players just steal a disguise and then live as the costume they're wearing, playing a single player RP instead of assassinating anyone

PhantomCatClock

how have i never seen this before

I've only backed up one PS2 game and that's because it was a demo disk that I had to work super hard to get, but the copy protection was like... they prayed that nobody would have a computer with a DVD drive? Because all I did was make an iso of it and it runs in an emulator
ps2's copy protection was g l o r i o u s l y complicated

http://psx-scene.com/forums/f20/ps2-disc-security-explanations-50245/
https://github.com/mlafeldt/ps2logo/blob/master/Documentation/ps2boot.txt

but most of it had to do with the firmware and parts of the disc that commercial burners can't touch interacting with games' boot sectors, and emulators don't need to emulate that part of the process to run the games

actually afaik there is no "true" ps2 emulator, ie one that creates a software simulation of the ps2's hardware, they're more like software environments designed to play ps2 games, which is why they all have weird issues where certain games don't run right unless you fiddle with the settings

there's a leaked ps1 SDK called  "Psy-Q" that you can run on a windows xp VM to make ps1 homebrew

I got as far as making Pong and then never got back to it

PhantomCatClock

well you should've said it was obviously worth it before even the first minute because I would never click a twenty-six minute video, but I could take a gamble on agreeing that if I did not enjoy the first minute, I am allowed to leave

that's how they roped me in this time

I love videos on copy protection hackers

remember that time manufacturers put a ATTN HARDWARE: PLS NO COPY thing on the outer edge of DVDs and it took people like all of an hour to realize you could just draw over the lighter spot of the disk there with a Sharpie and you're allowed to copy the DVD all of a sudden

is there a SharpieClock

we could probably shoot the shit about them for ages, I grew up with those games

I feel like I must have posted about monster bash before, that's my shit right there
I remember getting mad at jontron's video about it because he couldn't figure out that to exit level 2 you have to crawl through the log I figured that out when I was like 6! he didn't even get to the mansion there's so much cool stuff in the mansion!!

we had a disc called "gamepak" that was just like 30 dos shareware games, and almost all of the good ones were from Apogee
monster bash, shrapnel city, dukeii, halloween harry, math rescue, word rescue, cosmo's cosmic adventure, crystal caves, goodbye galaxy, secret agent
I can't even think of a good one that wasn't by apogee, in fact

somehow I beat both duke games and none of the others

I knew you were my brother.

I played a lot of Crystal Caves and Keen when I was younger, never had Halloween Harry so while I know it's regarded as a classic, I've never had the compulsion to play through it

PhantomCatClock

slurpee what would you do if i made it so you were in an alternate reality where oyster ice cream was a real thing and there was evidence that it not only existed but has existed for a long time and you couldn't convince anybody that there was a time (or a place) when this was not true and you just had to live in this reality forever

patriotclock
