PhantomCatClock

why is this search history full of "illithid rule 34" and not a single search for "flayboy"

Slurpee

the wording "world's fastest supersonic hedgehog" is weird

it makes "supersonic" sound like a qualifier
like "world's strongest bald man" would imply that there exists in the world a non-bald man who's stronger, right? otherwise why would you add that?

but it's logically impossible for there to be a subsonic hedgehog that's faster than a supersonic one

very clunky
there has to be a more elegant way to describe sonic

Slurpee

I guess "world's fastest hedgehog" doesn't sound very fast on its own. most people would reasonably assume that's still slower than human walking speed
but that just makes it sound insecure. like if I said "I'm this bedroom's strongest man who can lift more than 100 lbs" you'd know I only threw in that last part because it's not impressive to be this bedroom's strongest man

why even mention that he's a hedgehog? his name is sonic the hedgehog. you could say "sonic the hedgehog, the fastest thing alive" or something

they don't call mark henry "muscular the human, the world's strongest supermuscular human"
they call him "the world's strongest man, mark henry"

it's like the wording equivalent of bad graphic design

PhantomCatClock

superhenry human

VCRClock

I think they threw "supersonic" in there because the name "sonic" implies he's no faster than the speed of sound
<Marlin Clock> This thread seems proof positive that divisiveness at any level is usually bad for the Clock Crew.
<PhantomCatClock> are we talking about the same clock crew

is this a jamba summoning ritual

I've been toying away at Clocktopia still recently, and I think I probably have the worst filenames of any computer user I've seen.

I present:

idleright-1-2_-_Copy_-_Copy_-_Copy_-_Copy_-_Copy.png

Do you name all of your images? I feel like I should but any time I try I forget about it in like a week.

Slurpee

my names are really professional IF there's call to be professional
like for the group project in my software engineering class, absolutely everything I pushed was not only meticulously named but documented and probably annotated

but if it's just something no one else is gonna see I'm like
as7khbascsiubsdiubku
fartyfartballs

good joke btw

PhantomCatClock

there was a minute there where I'd name animation/programming stuff with appropriate names all starting with pcat_ and then i somehow got out of that habit for some reason hmm hmm hmm hmm hmm i do not know why nobody knows why there is no way to find out why

PannacottaClock

my filenames are often puns

Sometimes I name files like (name of flash movie).1 if I edit the swf after converting it because when I convert again it in swivel it automatically replaces the .mp4 file in my video editing program with the one that has .1 after it

It doesn't work if i name them the same thing then it breaks

but this sames me like two clicks when I don't need to replace the file

eat tofu very fast it comes out your nose

suboptimal

next time try drinking the bubble tea very fast so the little balls plug up your nose from the inside and you suffocate to death

I get that, I feel like with my game I kinda want them to be "professional" and "clean" because it gives me the illusion when looking through the files that this is a well-made project. I give up though because:

  • theres so many images that it'd take rlly long to name all of them
  • i'm the only one working on this
  • you can see the image before you click on it
  • gdev5 doesn't require you to refer to images in code, instead you organise them into "animations" in-engine which you refer to in code, and I actually name those properly

Now that I have FOUR RATIONAL AND REASONABLE BULLET-POINTS I can dilligently give up lmao

I was in subway today with two of my friends and they were asking about the cc, they know all about it and they've even been in some of my cartoons, most notably my last one for AYAODD. As the conversation was kind of finishing out, one of them said "I don't know why you'd dedicate so much time to working on something when it's just for the CC anyway." and the other one agreed. I actually haven't told any of them that I'm working on Clocktopia, but considering that I was going to ask one of them to help me write the script like I did for AYAODD, it was a little annoying lol. But I can't say I don't see where he's coming from. Do you ever feel that? Like working on something CC related can almost be like a waste of time, even if you put just as much if not more heart and soul into it than any other project?

With Clocktopia it's weird. Despite the fact that no one is particularly interested in this game, i've never been more motivated to work on something in a long time. I see it not as a sequel to my old CC games, but more as a cumulative thing. I've made alot of pretty sub-par CC games, and now that I'm really starting to try and get into computer games as a career and art, to start what's hopefully a long run of good titles with one, definitve K9 Clock CC video game seems almost poetic. I've learned alot about making games while in the CC. And I don't feel like Clocktopia could be a non-CC project either. A little bit of it's soul needs the CC to live on.

How do you feel? Do you ever get the feeling that your CC efforts (if any) might be wasted?

P.S: I didn't have enough money on my card for the subway so they gave me a footlong cheesy pepperoni FOR FREE. It was also 16 degrees out today. Truly a day filled with win.

PhantomCatClock

everything i do is a waste of time so i might as well be artistic about it

as opposed to what?

I'm not building a brand
I don't want that
like if I had the nostalgia critic's life I legitimately might fucking kill myself. I'm not saying he should kill himself I'm saying I couldn't live like that, my entire livelihood tied to this marketable thing I came up with twenty years ago and now I have to be that guy forever, it sounds like a nightmare

Slurpee

you learn stuff either way
that group project I mentioned, I designed the logo and most of the visual presentation and the GUI, and the other dudes in the group were like "that's really cool, how did you do this, where did you learn this" etc  and I'm like... shit, I dunno, dude, I've been doing this pretty much as a shitpost since I was like 14

either way it's a tool in your belt

PhantomCatClock

what slurpee's trying to say is he's a lethal hacker and all the skills he needs he learned from trying to make finger paintings on newgrounds and if you step out of line he's gonna look at you and draw his finger across his neck while making a "khhhhhhhrk!" noise with his mouth.

Slurpee

finger to the throat means death

PhantomCatClock

so does LETHAL HACKER man

it is eleven at night and seventy damn ass degrees fuck this place
