ok yes the lines from this commercial do happen to be seared into my brain, but the crazy thing that they DON'T tell you about nickelodeon magazine is that many of the cartoonists you read in Nick Mag are in fact underground cartoonists of note who have cool work intended for the sophisticated mature comics reader. a few seconds of montage in this commercial feature Sam Henderson's strip. Kaz also appeared pretty often. Both wrote for SpongeBob. (This is my first time hearing about "Behind Closed Doors," lol check that out.) James Kochalka was in there. Definitely the first place I saw Emily Flake.

Probably some real fine people doing stuff other than comics for that magazine, but I wouldn't have appreciated it at the time. Anyway, it sucks that the internet took so much wind out of print magazines. I think we've lost some advantages of that form of collecting/reproducing/disseminating ideas, that we still haven't recouped. What's worse is that when people DO get the idea these days that a print magazine would be cool, it's like a panda trying to remember the ancestral skill of eating eggs, and it comes out bad and overpriced.

it was a photo I took myself and I didn't post it anywhere but here and I assume none of you reported it(? it's not even illegal, it was my practice lock that I got to practice on. you can just buy them lol)

I'm not even mad, the discussion was already had, I just bring it up because that's nuts right?
that means they actually have people going through and manually checking if every single uploaded photo is in violation of their terms and services

I have stumbled on some rank fucking shit on twitter, reddit etc that got by for years just because nobody reported it and those sites don't do manual checks. imgur's got that shit on lock. which I guess makes sense, as what's primarily an image host they're pretty much under constant 24/7 threat of being used to subsidize porn sites' bandwidth costs
