Quote from: PhantomCatClock on September 05, 2025, 06:52:11 AMhonestly, probably a knockoff TRAVELER'S NOTEBOOK. They're just the blank covers with plennyo slots for goodies, then like, elastic bands for you to put your own notebooks in. i'd recommend dot grid because you can still write on it without it being distracting

Oooh, will check it out, thank ye.

comics are neat because you don't have to do keyframes. one two or maybe three and BAM there's your motion. no audio editing to worry about either can you believe it? I was shocked. shocked I tell you. dialogue scenes take longer but my dialogue scenes in animation are just two PNGs with flapping talk tickers over one background.

FLOUNDERMAN_CLOCK

perhaps I should make a visual novel. the ultimate "GOD DAMN IT I don't want draw this thing TWICE" art form.

the act of moving your eye from panel to panel counts as animation

today I learned about lysis for no reason. did you know if you inject pure water into your veins your blood explodes?
neither did doctors in the 1830s :sadfootball:

a Scottish doctor named Thomas Latta strongly believed that the dehydration from cholera was reversible, that the cells of the body still had the ability to absorb water, we just had to find the mechanism to get it to them. he came upon the eureka idea that since blood is kinda salty, instead of pure water they should match the salinity of the injection to the salinity of blood... et voilà! the saline injection was born
like all medicine, this was learned the hard way after much human horror
he describes the first experimental injection:
QuoteI at length resolved to throw the fluid immediately into the circulation. In this, having no precedent to direct me, I proceeded with much caution. The first subject of experiment was an aged female. She had apparently reached the last moments of her earthly existence, and now nothing could injure her – indeed, so entirely was she reduced, that I feared I should be unable to get my apparatus ready ere she expired. Having inserted a tube into the basilic vein, cautiously – anxiously, I watched the effects; ounce after ounce was injected, but no visible change was produced. Still persevering, I thought she began to breathe less laboriously, soon the sharpened features, and sunken eye, and fallen jaw, pale and cold, bearing the manifest impress of death's signet, began to glow with returning animation; the pulse, which had long ceased, returned to the wrist; at first small and quick, by degrees it became more and more distinct, fuller, slower, and firmer, and in the short space of half an hour, when six pints had been injected, she expressed in a firm voice that she was free from all uneasiness, actually became jocular, and fancied all she needed was a little sleep; her extremities were warm, and every feature bore the aspect of comfort and health.
god damn, huh?

I mean, she still had cholera, so he goes on to describe how she soon started vomiting again, but what an under-appreciated miracle. saline injections save millions of lives every year now! responsible for overpopulation! #endsaline

I developed a real appreciation for saline+properly hydrating when I was sick. you don't have to hydrate when you're sick because the doctors just inject you with saline. but they're like "please drink water when you get home" when they send you home and I did because I'm a good boy and it ended up just like part of my routine

I almost want to take my hat off and pay respects to all the people that died in the process of doctors going "uhhhh I dunno, maybe we can just shove the water up their ass?"
why does the military get 3 separate holidays but all the people who got diarrhea to death so we would never have to get zippo?

* it's really weird to have to pee without having drank anything btw

anyway
drink water, kids! don't inject it into your blood, though, or it'll explode, I hope I was clear about that
go ahead and filter it to keep the fluoride and cow estrogen out if you are worried about my liberal agenda, but I'm telling you, if you stay properly hydrated you really do feel a lot better just in a general sort of way

And rich people really just be out here calling doctors to their house when they get a bad hangover or are sick to get an IV that usually just makes them all better. Fuckers.
